His hands are tied, I'd wager.

Was is SergentTED? He's gone now.

Can't even copy/paste his own format anymore. Pathetic. Why do these people have a job?

I don't use old reddit. So, if you change or remove old from the URL, you'll see it just fine.

Thank you for this Braddock. I wanted to know, moving forward from now, will you continue to tweak weapon balance after 6.2 or will this be the final tweak before you start moving on to other endeavors for BFV?

I believe that's the intention - per the Community Broadcast on January 23rd from PartWelsh.

Post

We're getting ready for next week's update (6.2, pending certification), so let's see what info will be dropping this week (pending approvals).

It shouldn't come as a surprise that the first major patch after the devs dumped this TTK mess on us and then left for Christmas holidays and then came back for a month with barely any news, that people expect the first thing to be addressed was the horrid TTK.

6.0 would have definitely been a GREAT addition if it weren't for the fact that we were left with 5.2. for almost 3 months. 5.0 isn't considered one of the best additions to BFV for no reason. It was a great update that people believed BFV is improving and then 5.2. hit and smashed the goodwill that was created.

The devs or whoever in charge should recognise that pissing off your fans/community but most importantly, your customers i...

I understand what you're saying. However, we even created a whole Community Broadcast about 6.0 and 6.2 back on January 23 (almost 2 weeks before the update went live) - which we normally don't do for updates, but beccause of the state the community has been in, felt it was necessary to provide some details on when changes/fixes were coming.

When the devs go through the update notes (should be done by Friday), we’ll be able to share more details on what’s coming in 6.2.

That's the comment I made. It states the devs will be finalized with the notes on Friday, then we'll be able to start sharing more details (not the full notes) of what's coming in 6.2.

I was specific about not stating we'll be sharing details on Friday - as things can happen and I'm not a fan of setting a date that gets missed.

Edit: another disappointing failure to communicate

I didn't say we're posting the notes last week. I said they're locking them down. I didn't infer they'd be posted. I didn't tease they'd be posted. I'm sorry you assumed such, and as it happens, became disappointed in something that wasn't said.

That being said, I'm working on a Community Broadcast about the weapon changes coming with 6.2 and, internet gods willing, it will be out this week. As soon as it's all sorted and approved, we'll share it before the update (which is scheduled for next week pending Certification).

I remember asking you about your opinion about the last update and you were positive then and it didn't go over so well when it was released. I'm not saying you're a liar, but I feel you may have some bias being that that is your employer and that is preventing you from saying what you want not necessarily on this specifically, but in general . I don't expect you to comment on this either and that is fine. I don't think this patch will go over very well unless there are some major weapon balances involved and I'm not asking for a revert, never did actually, but I do hope a large portion of the guns are tweaked. I'm also hoping there are some major updates to the Community Games because we need that bad since that would be a major help against cheaters to start not to mention being able to tailor the game to how we want to play.

For what the update contained, I was positive. However, as it didn't affect weapon changes, it wasn't well received - despite the fact that prior to the release of the update PartWelsh stated in multiple places (reddit, forums, twitter) that 6.2 would be the weapon balance update. Had nothing to do with bias, to be honest.

I think the issue was that, despite being announced in multiple places when those weapon changes are coming, some folks expected something different from the update - despite being told what it would be.

And 6.0 brought Solomon Islands - which I do enjoy playing.

Not knocking your plans or anything but considering the shitshow caused by recent changes, something more substantial would be better. Is there a Community Broadcast or Letters from the Front coming so that you guys can actually communicate what the learnings you gained from 5.2 were and the direction you intend to take the game in? If yes, when? If not, why not?

Yep. I'm working on a Community Broadcast for this week that will hopefully have a chart showing the previous damage values with the new ones.

Fair enough. But no ETA on when we can read them? It would be awesome to have a sneak peak highlighting a few of the major changes. Thanks for responding.

I plan on dropping some nuggets of info/changes next week with our weekly posts.

Hi u/Braddock512, Friday has past. Did the devs finish reviewing the patch notes? Anything you can share with us? I just need a reason to get excited about BFV again.

The notes are pretty extensive. I won’t overhype anything. But it looks really good.

Its really concerning to me that you are framing this as a tiny minority controlling the narrative when its abundantly clear how unhappy most of the fanbase is.

That's not what I said, please re-read my reply. I didn’t say there’s only 20 folks upset. I said there’s the same 20 or so folks that go beyond the totally understandable frustration and attack with vitriol.

I’m absolutely aware of the state of the community - and it makes me sad because I truly want everyone to be happy and playing a great game.

(Stupid mobile Reddit threaded this on a different comment, thus the reason for my repost - and deletion of the previous one.)

Maybe it is time for one of the higher ups still working on BFV to come out and set some proper expectations for this game. This whole mystery thing does not work for a game that is holding on by a thread, there needs to be realistic goals but also communication in regards to things that are not realistic and likely won't make it into this title.

I wasn't lumping everyone together, but I can understand where you're coming from. There's about 20 or so "regulars" that are the most active (and generally most abusive) and once they pile on, it escalates. I totally understand frustration - vitriolic, debasing abuse, yeah, there's no excuse for it.
If you're not the one doing it, it wasn't in reference to you.

And I agree with your second paragraph - completely.

There are good ways and bad waysbto communicate with the public, and the difference can often be a single word. You consistently do it badly from what ive seen.

For example. Your entire second paragraph above, just should not exist. You did well with the first, then took the extra time to get hyper defensive and insulting. It was unnecessary.

Your original, have a good one, comment was very abrupt and dismissive. With some rewording it might have been fine.

However, you need to be very careful what you put before an ending like, have a good one, or you just look like you are trying to dismiss what is being said and end the conversation without opporyunity for comback. The equivelent of making sure you have rhe last word before walking away.

Fair point. I never thought about it that way - honestly - but I can definitely see how that can appear. Thanks for letting me know.
