Rollback networking huh? That's quite innovative.
I'm guessing it's because they could. It's a demonstration of the network engineers ability and technical prowess. Like the specialty of the chef at a fine dining restaurant. It stomps all over what everyone else has.
And if you don't get that you've probably never attempted to do RTS networking and that's perfectly okay. But those who know will be quite excited by this.
Oh if someone has a good link on this I would like to read it.
I recommend the recent Digital Foundry video interview with Andrew Sabri and the written interview Tim Morten and James Anhalt did with ScreenRant here: https://screenrant.com/james-anhalt-tim-morten-interview-snowplay-technology-stormgate/
These will go out tomorrow.
for future reference, can you give the time in a european time zone as well? cet or gmt for example
also im pretty sure asmon will stream from zackrawr
Done!
Fantastic lineup. So excited to watch these streams! I wonder who backed out of the show match 😜
I think we're going to have an incredible pair of showmatches with TLO, MaNa, and Moon competing!
No.
3 players? No 2, no 4, but 3???
Winner of TLO vs. MaNa plays against Moon in the final showdown match.
Moon from Wc3?
THE GOAT
The Stormgate closed beta goes live tomorrow and we’ve partnered with a small group of content creators to showcase 3P co-op and 1v1 gameplay for your viewing pleasure.
Please note that the Stormgate Closed Beta is still under NDA. If you are a closed beta tester, you are not allowed to stream, discuss the closed beta, or otherwise share confidential content from the game with the public without express written permission from Frost Giant Studios.
Stormgate Closed Beta Streaming Schedule:
Tuesday, December 5:
The wording in the DF video seems to be much more concrete, sounds like they will release with 3 factions. Or of course they can be doing it on purpose and surprisingly slap a 4th race near release.
We've finally learned to count from "1" to "3" and now everyone starts saying "what about 4?" Where does it stop?
But we dont know when early access begins
Not yet…
Yes! Excited for the co-op stuff!
Stay tuned this coming week.
Won't you at least tell us a clue regarding the third faction's theme?
no
Hi Developers: Any chance you could provide clarification regarding the maps of stormgate? For example, wondering if community members will be able to create maps, and if so, whether there will be a discussion channel dedicated to mapmakers, and if they can organize map related tournaments within the platform and whether community made maps could be adopted into stormgate ladder or tournament map pools, etc.
We will definitely have an editor (released after Early Access launch) for modders to make maps and eventually custom games, etc.
We're excited about the editor, as several members of our team members got their start in game dev as Warcraft 3 and SC2 modders.
We are intimately familiar with those editors having worked on them and can't wait to get our latest editor out there, though it's going to be a while. It will put the tools we're using to make the game into players' hands, only with a more intuitive interface that includes a visual scripting language.
As for discussion channels, we'll have a Discord, so I presume that we'll have a room dedicated to modders. I expect that the existing modding communities will also continue to exist, because they're awesome. There's a long history of community maps being used to expand tournament pools. I don't have details to share here, but I don't see why we'd want to change that.
I always like the surprise of a reveal and everything that’s involved, but I actually really like this expectation setting. It’s nice to be excited to see what is going to be shown without being disappointed by something like not seeing the third faction. Much appreciation for this post Stormgate!

If i signed in for the closed beta today, can i still get an invite?
You won't get an invite to the beta phase starting on December 5, but you may get an invite to future beta tests. It also can't hurt and you'll get our newsletter, which I try to pack with information.
Part of why we're launching a Kickstarter is to offset the costs of inviting more beta testers. If you want to guarantee that you'll get into closed beta in 2024, I'd ask you to consider supporting the studio by becoming a Founder.
Towards the end of EA probably, as they will only start to announce them early next year.
Just to repeat it--we will release EA with three playable.
Oh, Gerald of Trivia, provide me with your favourite fun fact perchance?
The reason why old-school Blizzard game boxes always included a Blizzard notepad is because Allen Adham (the original founder who brought on Mike Morhaime and Frank Pearce) felt that a box with just a disc inside felt too light and flimsy, not like a good value. So they added the notepads, various promo flyers, cool game manuals, etc., to make it feel like you were getting something substantial at retail vs. other PC games.
