Edit: just tried for pickaxe and functions as normal, received all upgrade items from Romarno.

Thank you for confirming!

Currently a bug where Ramarno always breaks out of his chat after handling witchwood, so he doesn't discuss the other 2 ingredients.

Thankfully talking about them is optional to create the hatchet, but means the moonstone and tensile vine cannot be reclaimed after making a hatchet.

We'll get a fix ready for the new year, but since we've shut down for Christmas, skipping the next few Monday updates, earliest release is in January.

I’m able to get all three pieces of the pickaxe back. I removed my bank placeholders for the attuned moonstone and tensile vine just in case. I’m also trying this on mobile and haven’t on pc yet.

Just checking... have you definitely completed the Pieces of Hate quest? Did you complete your first hatchet before today's game update?

I'm on holiday so can't check the code, but possibly the patch released today to break out of Ramarno's dialogue if you haven't completed Pieces of Hate is affecting the reclaim of his items, since they follow the same flow of dialogue.

After completing the hatchet once (you should get an achievement for it), you should be able to claim the ingredients from Ramarno.

But they're given to you one by one (IIRC the leg is the first item that's checked), so make sure you complete the dialogue (rather than clicking out of it) to get the remaining items. Also be sure you have space in your backpack to accept each ingredient.

You're supposed to be able to reclaim them. Certainly worked for me when I created the spare hatchet and pickaxe for my tool belt. (Albeit that was a week ago and we patched several things today, so could be a side-effect.)

Yes. :)

Only part that might be tricksy is if you happen to have both the pickaxe of life and death and hatchet of bloom and blight creation progressed to the exact same stage where you need to ensoul a moonstone, and complete the ensoul moonstone ritual.

I didn't want to risk adding a prompt to choose which moonstone you get when the ritual ends, in case you could lose your ritual ingredients by clicking out - so in that corner case, the moonstone gets ensouled in tool release order (ie pickaxe first). But you can then just ensoul another moonstone for the hatchet, and then should be able to continue with both tool creation processes in parallel.

More likely to be a Monday patch note than a hotfix this week. So depends how long you'd prefer to wait. :)

The intention was indeed for chopping logs during this step to count toward the achievement.

Will it unlock if you've attuned the moonstone already or do we need to re-chop everything? It's not a big task, but still would rather not :I

The ensouled moonstone eats the logs, so currently you have 0 logs to add toward your Treemendous tallies to upgrade your wood box.

You'd still have to progress those Treemendous tallies regardless (we're just aiming to put something in to artificially increment the Treemendous tallies when the ensouled moonstone is being fed) - so if you've sated your moonstone's hunger, might as well get chopping!

Thanks! Bit of a mystery. Guessing it was accidentally mapped down during the final diff of our map revisions.

Fixed it this afternoon, but since only server scripts can be hotfixed, it's locked and loaded for a future Monday patch notes.

Mechanically the tensile vine effectively identical to the metallic meteorite fragment for the pickaxe of life and death, including bad luck mitigation.

Every strike at the vine/idol (whether you succeed or not) rolls for the item, and reduces the ceiling of the random roll. So every attempt, you're more likely to get the item. When the variable reaches a certain threshold, you're guaranteed the item.

On average likely to take 2-3 clears of the vines. You've probably already got it by the time you read this. :)

You'll be able to withdraw your hatchet from the toolbelt, similar to how pickaxes work.

Yep, there's an established pattern to follow with augmentable hatchets - the inferno hatchet doesn't adze up.

Hatchets aren't upgradeable so the new ones follow suit.

The augmentable hatchets have a slightly higher success chance even without gizmos, though.

Only the elder god arrows.

Follows the same rules as the pickaxe of earth and song.

https://runescape.wiki/w/Pickaxe_of_Earth_and_Song

"Should the crystal pickaxe and icando pickaxe both be augmented, the choice is presented to keep one of the two augmentations; the perks and item experience on the other augmentation will be lost."

Would we need to interact with Evil Trees in some way shape or form (like we did with 110 M&S for the PoLaD)?

Like, burning Evil tree kindlings for a component?

No.

One of the hatchets was named that briefly at one point during development, and it's changed name at least twice since then.

Correct. Breezy and I have been chipping away at re-tiering Fletching in the last two gamejams, because it's something we really want to fix, but it's way outside the scope of a 110 project.

The focus here is raising the skill cap to 110, adding another tier of content above 99, and getting those to you in a regular cadence.

Similar pattern to 110 Mining & Smithing, but yes.

5 new achievements, 3 on comp. (We didn't do an MQC lore book this time, to spend the time on things like experimental new mechanics.)

Plus the 3 110 skill achievements on Master Skiller, with the same shockingly generous 9 month grace period.

We're experimenting with some new mechanics within the allocated space of 100-110.

Applying them to lower tiers, depending on how well that's received, would require a larger rework outside the scope of 110 projects.

No changes to yew with this update, as yew's a level 70 wood.

The focus was on increasing the skills to 110 and adding Woodcutting and Fletching unlocks within that bracket.
