I saw we would be able recruit additional NPC's to roam our bases... is that coming now? or later?

Yes that teaser was for this update π
Just started playing. This is a end game new zone right? Raising the max level?
Do we know of any changes to the game for someone who's say... level 3? lol. I saw that the grappling hook has combat purposes now. That looks sick.
Yes, to all 3 :) The new zone would be pretty hard for a low level, but there's a lot of new mechanics (like our NPC changes) that will impact the game at all levels.
They look really nice next to storage chests π
5 fps zoom out map fixed yet??
We have some changes in this update that should make this problem a lot better. I'm not sure yet if it will be completely gone (worlds with a lot of markers can still cause it), but I think you'll find that when it does show up, it is way more tolerable.
Wow, awesome! Please post the final version on Discord when you're finished, we'd love to get our hands on the save file and take a look at the build ourselves π
Are you planning to ever do wipes? Played a bit at the release but I want to avoid wipesβ¦so kinda waiting for it to be safe haha
There are no plans to do anything like this intentionally, worlds should update automatically with the content in new updates, and we don't see much reason to intentionally force a progress reset when saves are hosted locally and players can choose to do that themselves if they wish.
If, for whatever reason, this was something we felt needed to happen at some point, we'd give plenty of warning ahead of time, but currently I don't see why that would be the case.
I've foolishly dumped an extra 20 hours creating a new base. Will this update like previous ones be safe for existing files or should I save myself the pain of starting over and wait?
Yes, it should be safe for existing saves. Being early access, there's always a small risk of edge case file corruptions happening given how much stuff we're changing, so if you're really worried, we suggest making a backup of the save files. But that hasn't been an issue in the past, so it's generally not something you have to worry about.
cool, new mobs to fight! oh, wait...
There will be new mobs in the update as well, just not this specific teaser :)
WHEN IS SOON
Well, based off Valve Time, I think it will be anywhere from a few minutes to several years from now.
(Jokes aside, yeah we plan to release it well before the end of the year :)
You guys are killing it. Keep it coming!!
Can't wait to finally get around to a playthrough with the crew. Just another few updates and we'll spin the server up! Intentionally holding out for a clean playthrough with the whole team.
This will be our biggest update yet, so it might be a good time to stop by! New worlds aren't required, though, the existing save should update automatically with the new content :)
I'm honestly curious on how playable (or not) this is lol
The poo river is now a goo river π©
Hey there, can you please reach out to me on Discord and send me a DM with your log file? This is a very weird bug, so our QA team would like to see what's going on here.
Here's a link to our Discord server, and my username on there is "keentoast".
To find your logs:
Find Enshrouded in your Steam library, right-click it, go to Manage, and select Browse local files In the folder that will open, find a file either called enshrouded.log or just enshrouded. There is also a folder called backup. Compress the folder into a zip file. You can upload it either directly to discord or to a file sharing platform if you'd like.

object testing area maybe
This was just recorded by our video editor on the internal testing branch for the new update, so it's just a "normal" build of the game. If anything, it actually probably runs worse than what we'll eventually release in the update because a lot is still untested/unfinished :)
He has a pretty beefy PC, though, so that certainly helps.
To be clear, we agree :) We have so much more planned than just more ways to build, and given how much success the game has already had, we plan to keep making updates to it for a very long time.
There will always be a balance, we have a pretty wide range of players. Some players almost exclusively build and nothing else, whereas others basically never touch the building systems unless they have to, and obviously everything in-between. So we intend for both systems to grow and interact with each other more with time, we aren't going to focus on just one.
