You are getting hit by the fact that you've loaded in with a Wooden Pickaxe, that is fixed in v8.20.
We're also turning Enhanced Demolition on back in v8.20 as well.

Did they say what the issue was? I've got zero motivation to attempt my SSD now. I've got to rip out multiple tunnels since I just placed a new amplifier and the trap usage is almost out

We've released a fix that has shown major improvements across the Xbox platform. We're closely monitoring behaviors, such as this, after that fix went out.
