Greetings!
Developers were "out" this week working on their Game Jam projects. A few things need to be clarified, which is why I'm writing this. Creative people occasionally need to stop and get some "fresh air." Without such breaks, it is very difficult and tiring to stay on top of the creative wave. And we kindly ask for your patience.

This week, an article regarding a new mini-quest and Wilderness flash events will also be released. Stay tuned.

No, it doesn't.

Stars, I have seen them fall,

But when they drop and die

No star is lost at all

From all the star-sown sky.

The toil of all that be

Helps not the primal fault;

It rains into the sea,

And still the sea is salt.

To summarize my words; Jagex's current form of communication and interaction with the player base is damaging the relationship they have with their customer base. The biggest thing that can be done to repair that relationship is to start releasing in game polls about content like 120 capes where players can be heard and decisions made with large community support.

Honestly it would make your interaction with people on a whole a lot more enjoyable when you can start having the runescape community support the decisions Jagex makes in conversations employees can't respond to.

I was referring to other thread commenters. Sorry if my message was too confusing.
I do get what you're saying. As many people occasionally refer to retro skins polls, it is the initiative I really love working on. Moreover, I see that the players are quite engaged.
However, we will need to have a more extensive discussion with the other teams. Therefore, the change won't take place overnight.

i believe there have been multiple polls here that argue my point, those that don't outright hate it agree there needs to be changes.

people are angry at jagex's "just release it without testing or community input, whats the worst that could happen?" attitude. time and time again the players aren't heard, and its the sole reason so many people leave the game.

the more you guys keep doing this, the further in decline this game goes. today it's just a cape, other days it's the entire FSW issue.

i understand this is not your fault, but you're engaging with a community that are fed up from not being heard. the standard replies when people do say things of "not everyone agrees" or "we will take this into advisement" or "ill pass it on" really doesn't address the issue of the exact situation happening again with the next update that's last minute.

the problem with relea...

I've been reading a lot of the threads that have been posted this week, including this one. You can be sure that developers read Reddit too.

The criticism is taken into account. I can't change the situation right now, but when you provide constructive feedback, we can learn from it. Insults, emotional outbursts, and trolling will never make your voice heard though.

Am I learning my lessons? Sure. I do realise how crucial it is for players to learn information in advance.

Can I make a change? Depending on when the update is ready to be shared and many other things.

There are many excellent suggestions and opinions in this thread. However, given the volume of insults and trolling, it can be quite difficult to maintain the discussion at times. I still believe that if we carry on with our conversation in a civil manner, it will result in some fruitful outcomes down the road.

really the concept of this should have been posted long before employees invested their time and effort into making something the vast majority of customers dislike. changes could have been made prior to time investment and cost very little to change.

The vocal part of the community is not always "the vast majority".

We allow the conversation to naturally develop over the weekend, so that we may gather feedback the following week.

That i saw very little, if not any? feedback given from mods on the multiple posts of how to "fix" the cape.

Did you expect a lot of answers during the weekend?

Huh, i havent really seen too many comments suggesting that everything is ok, and no changes should be made, but appreciate the replies.

Given the feedback currently do you forsee possible changes... or a little too early to say?

And any possible chance to have the silver/gold only variant... or again maybe too early to say?

Honestly, the communication had previously been lacking, but I can see yourself and others being very active with updates recently. Which i can only commend you for, so thank you.

I can guarantee that I will deliver the feedback.

but there was a planned comp rework

I will check. Thanks a lot. :)

P.S. I began working in June 2021.

I would like to know how they are gathered if i may? Because a simple "yes/no" on liking something is not enough. And if its like the FSW where none of it was anonymous, that heavily influences the outcome and should be ignored. Hell, i did a quick poll on reddit and it was overwhelmingly "good idea, needs changes" https://www.reddit.com/r/runescape/comments/xstihw/120_all_capes/ Granted thats only one platform, but a simple thumbs up or thumbs down isnt really a valid result.

Theres might not be a way to recolour to anything, i get that. But would it be possible to have a r-b-g-gold version and just a straight up gold version? I think that would make it look significantly cleaner, and more usable with a lot of outfits.

Thank you for your question.
We collect comments from users on Reddit, Discord, and social media sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram. There are various metrics that let us evaluate feedback. We also use certain tools, but in my opinion, the best approach to give developers community feedback is to look through the comments.
I read threads (as you can see) and provide answers where I can.

Totally, and it is unreasonable to expect "weekend changes" for something. I think a dev post with concept art weeks ago may have made the feedback a little more constructive. It's hard to give genuine constructive feedback when the update is about finished and being displayed as a finished work.

Less a criticism of "omg mod Ramen didn't try!!" - because I know he did!

More of, "I wish time was given to receive and judge feedback, but I don't know who makes that decision".

Edit: few mobile typos

I appreciate your thoughtful feedback. It is  helpful and surely something we should keep in mind.

What do you mean by "Super silent"?

Ive mainly seen negative feedback, at least on reddit and in game. Or people suggesting various changes (the gaps look odd, theres waaaay too much colour to work with most outfits etc.) Even the people that have said they like it (that ive seen) are open to some bits being changed as its too much.

One can like something, and still wish for parts to be changed. So id love to know where the feedback of "no changes" has been seen.

The opinions are gathered. To respond to a portion of your message, I will quote Mod Ramen.

There is no existing engine feature that allows us to recolour particles the way the cape colours can be done. If the feature existed, this would have been an option on launch to allow players to customise.

Regarding the negative feedback, I'd say there is an equal divide in opinions.
