The protection parameters of the US and Soviet main battle tanks have been changed (open chart).

Changes to protection parameters of the American and Soviet MBTs:

In the recently published changelog for the “Raining Fire” update, a few mistakes were made in the protection parameters of Soviet MBTs, while those parameters in the game were mostly set correctly. We have corrected these issues, and now present the latest protection values. In addition, the protection parameters on the M1 Abrams series of tanks have been adjusted.

For turrets of Soviet MBT’s, the protection values in the sector of course angles ± 30° from the vehicle axis are used; this means that when a tank gets hit from these angles, protection is provided at a minimum as indicated. In the case of hitti...

Flight model changes:

Ta-152H-1 — wing profile has been recalculated to a “thinner” value , allowing delay in shock-stalling at high altitudes and speeds. Landing with flaps has become easier with minimum fuel. A bug causing motor overspeed at high altitudes has been fixed.

I-225 — shock-stalling momentum has been delayed for thinner profiles (i.e. the rudder is more effective at high altitude and speeds).

F4E, EJ — according to the operation's manual, the speed has been specified (increased) at altitudes below 9,000 meters.

F4U-1c/d — an engine bug causing insufficient thrust has been fixed.

FW-190 (all series) - a bug has been fixed where the aircraft is unable to achieve overload over 6G at high speed with minimum fuel load.

Aircraft and helicopter model, damage model, characteristic ...

All shells in the game - ground vehicle, aircraft and naval - will now have their own volume. Learn more about damage model improvements brought to you in the recent update.

Hello!

In addition to new vehicles, a new location and numerous fixes and improvements, in the War Thunder: Raining Fire update we are introducing “volumetric” shells - a very important feature for all game modes. Previously, shells in our game did not have their own volume. In fact, each projectile fired was a material point that reacted with the ballistics of its real life prototype, and upon contact with the enemy, a complex multi-vector simulation of the interaction of the projectile at the point of impact, say, with the point of armor on an enemy tank took place. In this case, the point-shaped projectile in some cases could inflict penetration or damage where a real projectile was not able to fit in reality - for...

Welcome to a new location for naval battles - "Aleutian Islands", that we plan to add to the game with the release of the War Thunder: Raining Fire

The volcanic Aleutian Islands archipelago, located between Alaska and Kamchatka, became the target of Japan's diversionary operation to capture Midway during World War II. It is here, with the release of the Raining Fire update, battles between naval vessels and aircraft of War Thunder will begin. The harsh northern climate has made this archipelago almost lifeless with only the sea, rocks and rare vegetation. Amongst this grim beauty you will find a small naval base with a maintenance dock, a lighthouse and a few rare buildings.

The relief of the interior of the archipelago is replete with rocks and small i...

Dear players,

Due to really short time between planned changes announcement and their planned implementation, we decided to do not create official feedback thread (because there would be no chance for us to collect feedback and pass it to dev team).

Thanks.

Maybe. Should we focus on providing informative elements and help players understand relevant changes so they can notice them in game (but they might not see all the background work), or on showing our work by posting wall of texts? (at the risk of having most of the players ignore patch-notes entirely?)

I'll see if i can provide an example (secrets documents don't get taken out of the vault that easily!), but it's really incomprehensible for a regular person. (basically, anyone but devs).

We know the (vocal) community is asking for fixes before new vehicles, but both are compatibles... and necessary. We had a really big "minor" update recently, followed by engine sound fixes / improvement, some guys working on optimization for air battles with this patch - we're not forgetting fixes.

At the same time, we got quite a lot of players asking for new vehicles because... they seems to like new things

We ...

Along with visible modifications (vehicles specs, feature correction, regular bug fixes...), a lot of work is being done on graphic API, engine and so on. It's usually it's a few lines per update, up to a page of something looking like a foreign language for regular people. Some assets failing to load, loading too slowly, an internal action reporting an internal error, you name it. Dev stuff.

Listing those fixes would submerge what really interest players in a blob of... Klingon, and spending time to explain those would turn our updates notes into an online program development course.

I've been a tech mod for quite some time in the past (and miss it) and overall, felt in love with WW2 vehicles a long time ago - so i'm going to be slightly subjective and exaggerate a bit.

For me, this doc is... a lost commandment tablet. THE source. We spend days trying to get to the end of this "turret armor" story and through we had the answer. Seems like we were wrong. Honestly, after the time we spend trying to convince players we were right (as we really, really through we were), it would have been easier to keep it the way it was and forget about it.

We're not trying to balance the maus, we're (finally) fixing an incorrect vehicle.
