Hello everyone! The year is approaching its end, and as promised, there’s one more update coming. It will be the one previously referred to as “Content 2”, rounding off the content development we’ve been busy with throughout the year. Where “Content 1” AKA Rusted Remnants was about shipwrecks, and the big campaign update, New Frontiers, had to do with stations, this one is largely about the...

Hello everyone! Before we get to the customary Halloween update, we wanted to write a little bit about bigger things – about what to expect from the near future, and about how we already have a mind-boggling five years of development behind us. Wait, what? Yes, that’s right – tomorrow marks exactly five years since I released the first public build for what was then called Subsurface and these...

Hello everyone, good to see you again! We’re now all back from our summer holidays and getting ready to release a bugfix patch / minor update – we’re sorry we were not able to hotfix the biggest problems out of the New Frontiers update sooner, but you’ll get those fixes in this update, along with a couple of new things that we’re hoping you’ll have fun with! [WIP!] A sneak peek into a new feature...

Hello everyone! It’s finally time to properly introduce the New Frontiers update – that is, the campaign update that’s been teased and talked about for an incredibly long time. Besides adding much-needed new content, the New Frontiers update is a big step forward in creating a better sense of progression in the campaign game mode. We dare say, singleplayer and multiplayer are also beginning to...

Hello everyone! Time for another campaign update sneak peek. Outposts may be the single biggest part of it, but there’s going to be much more besides that the next update brings – such as having your submarines progress with you in the campaign. “Does the engine on your Dugong suck? Spend some marks and it will suck less. Not enough power output from the piece of sh*t reactor in your Typhon?

Hello everyone! Today marks one year since we started Barotrauma’s early access on Steam. Whatever the exact time when you joined our ever-growing crew of Europan explorers, THANK YOU for being a part of our journey – it means the world to us to have gathered so many people in our drowning simulator when it’s not even finished yet! It may seem strange to celebrate having spent a year in what many...

Hello everyone! The campaign update is looming in the not-so-distant horizon now, so let’s take a closer look at one of its key ingredients: outposts. Once the campaign update is released, outposts will come in many shapes and sizes, can be properly entered and introduce new kinds of events and NPCs. One could argue they’re the single biggest functional change Barotrauma is going to see during its...

Hello everyone! It’s time to present the first of the several content updates that we teased before, titled Rusted Remnants (for some extra background story, click here!). If everything stays on schedule, it’s going to hit Steam next week, and here are the, well, contents. Ever wonder where all those lost or abandoned boats, breached hulls and rusted remnants of wrecked submarines go? So did we...

Hello everyone! Let me tell you a story. “Alice, it’s bedtime!” “Just a minute Nana! I’m watering the kitchen bonsai flora.” “Wash your hands afterwards, and take care you don’t drop any spores on the floor!” “I know I know! Nana? Will you tell me about the wreck again? For a bedtime story.” “Are you sure it won’t give you nightmares?” “I’m too old to have bad dreams now!” ***

Hello everyone! With the Silky Smooth update finally out of development, it’s time to lift the veil on the what and how of campaign development and our plans for more content. Everyone here is anxious to finally get to go from words to action after so much time spent paving the way to the center of the map, so to speak. We’re going to write more about the actual features and content in the COMING...

Hello everyone! What we’ve been loosely calling the “UI Update” is right around the corner now, so it’s time we write about what’s going to be in it. First off, it contains changes to much more than just the UI, and it ended up being quite a lot bigger than planned at first. Based on testing the update with our community on the public unstable version, we’re confident it will in fact make...

1. It determines what kind of environment you'll be playing in and what kind of random events you might face during the mission. So, when you ramp up the difficulty, expect more moving ice chunks, sessile organisms that disrupt your sonar, volcanic activity, water currents and more frequent (and more dangerous) monster spawns.
2. Sort of. The seed determines the layout, size, biome, mineral spawns and the locations and layouts of the alien ruins. It's not possible to directly choose these properties using the seed, but when you use the same seed, you always get the same level.
3. Unfortunately no, although turning the difficulty up generally tends to generate longer levels.

We will most likely add some more detailed level settings to the multiplayer though, for example I think being able to choose the biome directly would be a really useful addition.

Also, if you're interested in modding the game, it's fairly easy to modify the way the levels are genera... Read more

If you're playing on Windows, the saves are located in "C:/Users/*user*/AppData/Local/Daedalic Entertainment GmbH/Barotrauma".

1. Incapacitate them in some way (for example by stunning)
2. Grab them
3. Move the handcuffs into their inventory and equip them

The handcuffs are admittedly quite confusing to use at the moment and I think we'll need to do some rethinking on how they work. Another big issue is that it's way too easy to put them on by accident - it's funny the first time it happens, but it gets annoying really fast.

Google translate. :)
