I'm right there with you man. Theres at least 1-2 skins in every battle pass that I'd love to get my hands on. (Prism III Axe, Kingdom Spectre, the whole Infinity collection, any many more!) But as a new player (started 2 weeks ago) I have no way to right now. I'd pay quite a lot of money and spend a lot of time grinding to get those old rewards.
I hope they work out a system in the near future that allows us to get old things without making "OG" players feel annoyed!

Macro is very visible in broadcast, but the reality is that effective macro comes from tactical excellence on the micro level. Broad trends result from many small actions, improving those actions is the key to leveling up your game.
No, no they are not usually similar to real world economies. Some MMOs might be a little similar, but the vast majority of games have nothing in common with a real world economy. You have infinite supply, you have a single seller market with no competition ("the game"), you have secondary and tertiary currencies, etc. There are a lot of differences.
The macroeconomics of the situation are definitely different, but hard disagree when it comes to micro. Economics is the science of incentives, and that leads to unique insight when developing an in-game economy.
