We will continue to make optimization improvements, but currently I'd say we're more CPU bound.
We have updated our official minimum and recommended specs for Early Access. Keep in mind that during Early Access these could change as we continue to optimize before full release in 2024.
Can you possibly launch the game and run it without the minimum specs? perhaps, but during this time they are what we require to support the game which means that if you contact support we can not provide support.

They would have realy pissed people off if they took money from founders pack and delayed the game
We had no choice but to delay the Early Access due to circumstances out of our control. The alternative was indeed to allow people to purchase the game, download it, but not access the game and that's a slimy look.
How in the world are you announcing a delay few hours before the release of early access, what a huge letdown...
