We have more Vault Weapons coming in future updates. We will confirm which ones alongside the updates.

I made a typo. It is indeed 3, so will get it fixed - sorry about the confusion here.

I can talk more about our design intent for availability of attachments on Vault Weapons.

Our design intent for the Vault Weapons is to ensure they remain authentic to their Battlefield era. This means a Battlefield 3 weapon will not receive "new" attachments from 2042. It instead only has access to its era specific attachments.

Another aspect of this is that having 2042 attachments available on "older" weapons would look out of place visually. And in many cases, the 2024 attachments would also have the exact same gameplay benefits as their era counterparts, so it would make choice more complicated without benefit.

We talked about it today.

We're closely monitoring performance of all new weapons that came with the Season update.

They did. They said exactly that in one of the spring developer updates. We were told Portal weapons were coming to AOW but it would take several months to implement because they needed time to bring them up to the 2042 weapons progression standard of having skins, charms, mastery camo's, Tier 1 camo's, etc.

Then they told us Portal weapons were coming sometime in Season 1 but ended up delaying them to Season 2 because they still needed more time to finish implementing the progression for all the Portal guns.

Then just a few days before Season 2, they quietly mention the Portal weapons won't actually have any of the stuff we were told they were working on and would just be the plain weapon and that's it. DICE loves to lie to us because they know they can keep getting away with it.

Edit: Just for clarification, the Portal guns in AOW do have their basic attachments. But no attachment progression, camo's, Tier 1, etc.

This is our latest update which was posted before Season 2:

None of the new Vault Weapons that we bring in from Battlefield Portal will have unlockable, or purchasable Cosmetics, and will not feature Mastery Appearances. We made the decision to maintain their default looks, and increase the speed at which we can add new Vault Weapons in future updates. This allows us to stay focused on their gameplay balance, and correctly mapping them with the backend systems which help us to manage your progression across the game.

In later Season 2 updates, we’re looking to introduce weapons such as the P90, the AKS-74u, and the M98B, with plenty more to come and we will keep sharing updates with you all as we have them. For those of you who didn’t jump in during Season 1: Zero Hour, we’ll be using the Assignments system to allow people to unlock Vehicles, and Specialists as well.

Edit: spelling :)

We make changes based on how we see gameplay evolve. Balance isn’t static.

We have just deployed the below change. To confirm, that's now active in-game.

Changes to Paik’s EMG-X Scanner are now active to reduce its disruptive impact on gameplay flow:

Scan Range -> 25m

Spot Duration 0.85 -> 0.07s

This means Scanning now acts as a snapshot instead of a prolonged Spot, while also requiring you to be closer to players to Scan them.

Thanks for flagging this!

I can confirm this is an issue that we're tracking for weapons with Automatic Fire modes. We are working to resolve it for an upcoming game update.

There is an AEK for Battlefield 3, as well as Bad Company 2.

You unlock each Era's version separately, and can start with the Bad Company 2 version:

  • 200 Kills and Assists with Assault Rifles
  • 5000 Damage inflicted with Explosives

We are monitoring and can and will make changes to Paik if necessary.

He says no to server browser for AOW.

But...they're exploring persistent servers in Portal....

But Portal servers are already persistent, are they not? You don't get kicked out between matches and the lobby loads the next map while keeping the same players.

Did he misspeak and mean to say persistent servers in AOW?

Currently if a Portal server is empty then it will not be visible to anyone. If it becomes "persistent", then it will still be visible even if it has no players.

Go to the overall Collection screen. Select "Change Era" to see Portal content.

Currently it one shots infantry once it goes past its max range, as well as doing it through walls; and its leading to people in breakthrough just calling the vehicles in SOLELY to place it as far as possible to rack up the airbust kills.

Yes, we are looking at changing this in a coming game update.

Something we would love to do. But no plans to share on that right now.

Is the Paik change something that's being monitored by the team?

I feel like she was in a good place before because there was a tradeoff to using her scan: if you used it, it revealed you as well.

The change made it so she essentially has free wallhacks which drastically increased the amount of Paik's being used in game and made it so that you are almost always revealed to enemies on the map.

Is that something they'd ever consider reverting or are they happy internally with the change?

Yes, we are closely monitoring Paik's performance. If we see the need to revert those changes then we can and will.
