Fellow Adventurers,

We’re back with a new update on the stability of the Albion Online servers, as well as the topic of compensation.

The good news first: it seems as if the work our server host and we have done to mitigate attacks on our infrastructure has yielded results. There have still been a number of attacks since our last update, but those have barely impacted your ability to play. This is despite the attacker(s) constantly shifting attack patterns, methods, and targets.
While this does not mean that further attacks may not have some impact on our servers, we are at the moment cautiously optimistic.

That then brings us to the topic that we promised to ... Read more

Hello Adventurers,

This was quite an intense weekend. A weekend that, unfortunately, was nowhere near as smooth as anyone would have hoped and that fell short of the frictionless experience we want to deliver for our players.

The DDoS Situation
Let’s start with the most obvious thing: the ongoing DDoS attacks. Throughout the weekend, we saw a number of DDoS attacks against several parts of our infrastructure. The good news is that we, in cooperation with our server host, could react quickly each time and managed to stop individual attacks. The bad news is that, since the attacker is extremely dedicated and creative in their efforts, it is likely to take some more time to fully prevent them from having any impact on Albion Online’s systems. We and our server host are working tirelessly on proper solutions for healing the frustrating situation. We are committed to overcoming this problem as soon as we can.
However, we are still in for a bit of a b... Read more

Fellow Adventurers,

For this update, we are not coming to you with new numbers, but instead a general update and some context.

As you may have noticed, the number of bots found in the game is, at least for now, on a significantly lower level than it was in the majority of the past few weeks. That’s good. We’re seeing it too.
That means that a combination of our efforts has yielded tangible results. We have gotten a large number of bot accounts out of the game, and found ways to make it harder for them to get new accounts back up and running.
You are seeing the results, we are seeing the results - the person(s) running the bot farms are also seeing the results. And while you, adventurers, and us are very happy about the results, the people running their bot business are not. Very much so, apparently.

The server instabilities that we have suffered in the past 1 ½ days were results of large scale DDoS attacks against our server infrastructure. Th... Read more

Hello Adventurers,

Today, we wish to address the growing concerns surrounding the bot issue and share an update on our ongoing efforts to combat it.

We fully recognize that the current situation is frustrating and impacts many players. Our position has always been clear – there's no room for cheaters and botters in Albion. Obviously, resolving the bot situation is our current highest priority. Multiple teams are working tirelessly to address the issue from different angles.

We are sincerely grateful to every player who has taken the time to send us reports. While we cannot update you on the status of individual accounts, rest assured every report is thoroughly reviewed and acted upon. Our bot-hunting team is continually expanding, with more members dedicating their days to tracking bots and responding to your reports. So far this led to more than 162,000 permanent bans since March 20th, 2023. Simultaneously, we're improving our technical solutions to de... Read more

Hello Adventurers,

Last week, we reported that as a result of technical measures and increased staff, speed-hacking reports have significantly declined, and therefore we have been focusing more of our resources on eliminating accounts that have gained unfair advantages in other ways, e.g. botting.

Cheaters, of course, are nothing new, and prior to our ... Read more

Hello Adventurers,

As you all know, we have been working hard in our fight against cheaters, and wanted to keep you informed of our progress. Although we have removed many accounts involved in fraudulent activity, we are constantly monitoring and improving our processes while looking for further technical solutions. Your reports on suspected cheaters (bots, speed-hackers, scripters, macroers, and so on) are very helpful and massively appreciated.

We are happy to inform the community that in our continued efforts to rid the Albion Online realm of the aforementioned cheaters, as well as accounts involved in RMT and those benefiting from them, we have now banned nearly 104,000 accounts since March 20th, 2023.

Please keep in mind that anyone participating in RMT (Real Money Trading of in-game currency and/or items) – not only sellers but also buyers, mules, distributors – absolutely anyone involved in RMT or any other illicit activity will be bann... Read more

Hello everyone,

We wanted to update you on the speed-hacking situation once again, as we have continued to work hard on this issue, and have not stopped or slowed in our attempts to remove those who use or benefit from game exploits.

As you may remember from our first update, we banned approximately 6,500 accounts in one week after adding to our team and implementing new technological solutions.

With these improvemen... Read more

Hello everyone,

It’s been just over a week since we made an announcement on the speed-hacking situation and we wanted to keep you updated on our progress.

We’ve been working very hard to remedy the situation, and are happy to say that because of your efforts in reporting and being vigilant in sending videos, emails and other documentation, as well as the help of additional staff and technical measures, we have identified and banned approximate... Hello everyone,

During daily maintenance today we're deploying Patch 7 to the Live Server. The processes that are involved in this patch can potentially extend the downtime by up to 30 minutes.

Thank you for your patience.

Hello everyone,

Our payment processor has temporarily halted processing of payments in Russian Rubles. That means that purchases from within the native client and our website are not possible in that currency anymore, and you will receive an error message if you attempt to do so.
We unfortunately have no influence over this as it is, and also do not have an ETA for when payments in Russian Rubles will be possible again through this gateway.

In the meantime, you can still use the mobile clients and Google Play Store or Apple Appstore purchases.

Best,

Hello everyone,

Gambling is a bit of a tricky topic, one in which nobody can win (pun intended).

So here’s our stance:
With the next patch, dropping on May 5th, there will be an explicit rule making it clear that gambling and games of chance are not allowed, to avoid any confusion. However, considering the fact that this kind of activity is considered illegal in certain jurisdictions, we already consider it a violation of our T&C, particularly §13.1 (Users are obliged to…(...)comply with applicable laws and all rights of third parties when using the Services.), and have to step in.

Addendum May 05:

As a follow up to the above statement, some players have asked us whether someone could get around the “no gambling” restrictions by turning their games into “games of skill” instead of chance.

First of all, there are many games that contain chance and skill elements. If these games are run in a professional man... Read more

Hello everyone,

We have seen a few reports on the forum about people not being able to download the Hotfix we released on July 1st. During today's maintenance, so, now, we're deploying a new server version that should allow people suffering from this issue to connect again. Please report in this thread is not the case. Thanks!
