I'd love to do this if it would stop giving me unexpected errors every time I'm trying to vote for top lane, but oh well.
First time hearing if this problem. Really sorry to hear that and hope you still made it through the vote.

Read moreThere's lots of merit in keeping it simple and accessible and I agree that should factor in an auto top 3 format of which I think should be kept. However I think that this specific one was missed the mark for the expert's pick for AD carry and I suppose Support too.
Whilst Perkz is a well known player, putting him in the top 3 for a performance based poll for a role he's never played competitively in ahead of the voted best AD carry for Summer 2018 in Upset and an AD carry who showed up in group stages last year as well as being a really consistent player for both splits in Attila seems odd. On top of this it has affected the agency of some fan's ability to put across their opinions through the poll. Whilst some fans might think that Perkz can be a top 3 performer this split, there are some fans who think G2 might perform poorly this split because of the move. Whilst fans can also think likewise of say S04 for keeping Upset, I am certain you would have lots more Perkz excl...
I can't speak to the reasons the individual experts had to make this choice, but personally I think the fact that this is a prediction of the future and not an assessment of current strength probably had the largest impact on Perkz here. There is a trust that he is one of the most gifted players world wide (especially after Worlds 2018) and that this is enough to make him adapt quickly and perform well within weeks.
A note on the expert picks:
We wanted to strike a balance of keeping it simple and accessible for people who might not know all the players (in a first iteration we thought about including all subs, which would have made this really messy without any pre-selection), but still give everyone the option to get their favorites in no matter what. This is the first time we are doing this and we are not necessarily committed to this exact format going forward. One thing we had in mind was to have two polls, one for fans and one for analysts/players/coaches.
Any feedback is appreciated and we'll look to adjust based on internal and external input in the future.
90% - An EU team makes it out of Groups (giving FNC 75%, G2 50%, and VIT 10% --> 1-(0.25*0.5*0.9) = ~89%)
50% - exactly 1 EU team makes it out of Groups (given the odds above, it would be: only FNC 34%, only G2 ~11%, and only VIT ~1% --> ~46%)
10% - G2 does not make it to Groups (the odds for 90% also imply that G2 would have a ~56% to advance from Groups if they make it there)
Yeah these numbers are a bit high for EU, but I don't think that they are too far off, especially given that G2 would end up in Group A or C.
I worded my comment poorly. What I meant to say is that those things aren't necessary to climb out of silver. I personally reached gold by spamming Bard and just destroying enemy supports.
Wave management is very strong (I got destroyed by Garens who just froze waves on me). Powerspikes are helpful. Warding locations are useless IMO because I haven't seen anyone play around wards in Silver. Usually people just put a ward before they facecheck.
Oh yeah, can definitely make it out without knowing much about it, but I think it is one of the most valuable things to pick up.
Except that none of these get you to gold. You get to sound pretentious while flaming your teammates but it's pretty much useless for climbing low elo.
EDIT: Said the wrong thing. What I meant is those skills aren't necessary to reach gold. You can get to gold knowing none of these. I definitely did not learn these things in Silver.
I think wave control is one of the best ways to improve your win-rate in silver. It allows you to assert pressure on the map all by yourself without really giving up much (assuming the other team does not know how to manage their side-waves).
That's funny since I agree on fankifalfur, you learn #1 & #3 from watching high elo streamers / youtubers.
Casters will talk a bit about #1 but won't go in to detail, Dong Huap for instance has a youtube clip where he explains it and I learned more from that then I did from watching 6 years competitive.
#3 is something I learned from watching Dyrus / wingsofdeath back in season 3. Casters will say x champion needs these 2 items before they really come online but they again won't go in to detail. For instance old Irelia didn't want to fight Riven at lvl6, but lvl7 was a free kill if the Riven didn't respect it, while casters will just say she needs her trinity powerspike.
While #2 is something you learn from just watching a competitive game if you pay attention to it / minimap.
Yeah you can definitely learn those things through multiple channels. I personally learnt a lot of the core concepts from watching EU and NA LCS and learnt more intricate things from streamers/youtubers. But ofc. this depends on who you watch and it is cool that there are lots of different options out there.
I feel like only the 2nd thing is the only thing on that list that can actually be learned from watching pro play, you're not going to learn wave management watching the spectator go around every lane every few seconds. Also you can't really tell if a champion is powerspiking as a spectator because often enough you don't see them instantly fight when they spike or you can't feel the powerspike yourself.
Warding though I agree, some very creative and useful ward spots can be seen in competitive games as a spectator
point #1 and #3 is learned from the casters in my opinion (but you are right, that it is not something you learn well just by watching). To be fair, those things take a while to fully understand and remember.
Edit: I can say personally, learning about wave management from the casters over the years is one of the main factors contributing to my improvements.
Do you think there is anything a Silver ranked player could learn from watching competitive or is the skill gap too wide?
Some of the things I always take away from pro play:
- Wave management (when to push, when to freeze, why it matters, etc.)
- Good/creative ward locations (warding lanes, where to ward around baron, etc.)
- Power spikes of champions
Wrong. If Schalke wins ties are going to be broken by looking against the results a team had vs. the other teams with the tie.If Misfits wins their game, there is going to be a tiebreaker game between S04 and ROC. (Thanks to u/Timbolt for the correction)
Tiebreaker if MSF loses their game:
Place Team Standings 5 H2K 3 - 1 6 Schalke 04 2 - 2 7 ROCCAT 1 - 3 Tiebreaker if MSF wins their game:
Place Team Standings 5 H2K 4 - 2 6 ROCCAT 3 - 3 6 Schalke 04 3 - 3 8 Misfits 2 - 4
The bottom scenario is correct, the top one would have S04 at 2-2
If S04 loses to FNC you guys go to playoffs as 6th seed
Correct, a tie at 8 wins between ROC, H2K and MSF means we apply "mini-standings" for those 3 teams where only their H2Hs count. That would result in
3-1 H2K
2-2 ROC
1-3 MSF
Therefore H2K would be 5th, ROC 6th.
% of time spent on the 'enemy' side of the river
correct. How much time the player spent on the enemy side of the map in the early-game (0-15 minutes)
I just hope noone on broadcast will use KP% to mesure ADCs anymore. Having a high KP just means ur team is unable to crate kills outside of teamfights. I bet Pray has pretty low KP. Thats not because he is bad but because Khan Bdd and Peanut get stuff done on the other side of the map.
I agree that KP for ADCs is not really a performance metric, but a lot of stats aren't. If your ADC has a high KP it can mean that the team plays around him a lot or, as you said, that the team gets kills mainly through team fights. I would say those can still be interesting insights, don't you think?
So what is the point of this post? Did you see people somewhere saying that rekkless will NOT have the best stats? Whenever I checked fnc's postmatch discussions I never saw anyone saying any other eu adc is better. So why did you have to post this and even with the word CLEARLY in the title like it's some sort of surprise.
Also people here are aware he is a good adc but they're talking shit mainly because of your fanboy shitpost.
While it is true that is expected that he has the best stats, it is actually quite rare, even for the best players, to be this dominant across the boards (in terms of stats).
I mean its really good but not as impressive as I initially thought.
Hans Sama, Upset, Samux & Sheriff all have 0 isolated deaths too, which is basicly half the league...
Upset is actually the only other ADC with 0 IsoD.
Who is the #1 in the respective stats where Rekless is #2?
Here are a few:
D@15: Samux has 0!
DMG/M: Upset with 697
KP: Sherrif at 83.8%
FWD: Hans Sama with 39.6%
Here comes the fine.....for CLG.
Oh god, that one really got me. Laughed pretty hard. Perfect spot in the thread as well. You read 10 comments about fines and think you know what is coming and then get instantly thrown back in time with this one.
Hm and this is the first Year where i havent watched a single Game yet. And i dont know why. Its for sure not because i dont like the Staff, they are all great.
Hm maybe with MSI or Playoffs, but it looks like i need a little more Hype, after so many Players i liked left EU (Zven, Mithy, PoE, Febiven, Ignar, Expect, Trick) and so many Teams i liked got gutted (G2, UoL, MSF).
Realy strange, because i watch LCS since Season 3 and dosent even play League.
Hm maybe someone can name 1-2 realy good Games who could catch me again ?
You should tune in for next week's game between FNC and G2. Now that those team's have had some time to get in shape and are on a 5 and 6 game winning streak respectively, it should make for a captivating match! It will be on next Saturday.
I'm pretty confident that if you win games in plat+ with ashe, it's not luck.
I am not saying people who max q are just lucky. Maybe I should have said that the win rate might be a result of randomness, meaning with such a small sample size, it is difficult to say wether maxing q had any influence on the win rate.
I don't know much about Ashe. But you really should be really careful when reading champion.gg wins statistics. For example, Ashe maxing Q has a sample size of 262 games. The win rate might be a result of pure luck. So I would not read much into it. That does not mean that maxing Q might not be the best solution, but the decision should not be made based on this statistic. A Master I player arguing for maxing Q first is way more helpful.
