Seems like the narrative currently is that the game won’t even get updated ever again after this last patch, when my impression from the last thing Riot said is that the game will be updated, just more sporadically and with a majority of it being Path related content.

Yes, we will have some articles to fill in more details about our future content and release plans. We have plenty of stuff slated for release beyond patch 5.4.

Not alongside, but it's tentatively slated for soon thereafter. We're still working out details and scheduling, the League Client is a busy place.

To be transparent, we think that having new people come into the game when there's a lot of fun, engaging conversations on social media (like here on Reddit!) about our new champs, the new set, the latest format changes from Rotation, etc. We want the players who are falling in love with LoR for the first time to experience a welcoming ecosystem outside of the game too.

Hi there! Obviously my answer will be biased (yes it's worth it!), but I can provide a little clarity on some of your questions:

  1. We'll have more details when we release our next set in April, but we plan on having ranked Standard and Eternal queues up in perpetuity, with seasons resetting every three months.

  2. Our current plan for keeping Standard fresh is via rotation - we have over 100 champs currently and so the permutations for Standard are pretty robust. Whether we incorporate player feedback into this process is something we'll consider once we've seen how things go with our initial strategy.

  3. Our game queues are still very healthy - our internal metrics have shown no increase in average matchmaking times over the last few months, although of course there are hours in the day where there are fewer players in queue, but this has always been true.

Thanks for this update. We’re attempting to repro internally - if you can, please submit a bug report and attach device logs if you can.

We just released a fixed version, please update the app in the Google Play store - hopefully this should address the bug.

Hey there, so first off, I want to say I'm sorry that you feel this way, and I understand the frustration you're expressing here.

I want to say that at the time we gave this answer, we had double checked with the relevant folks within Riot (and there are a lot, the League Client is a complicated thing with many moving parts, teams, and schedules) and we believed that we gave an accurate answer with the information we had at the time. As time has gone on, things have changed, but we are still expecting to go wider with the promotion of LoR in the League client soon.

I don't want to give an exact time frame because I don't want people to feel lied to again, which is not our intent. But I'm in active threads with the people who are making this happen, so I know it's on track - it's just unfortunate that we were not able to make it happen in the February time frame we said earlier, and for that, I apologize.

We will rotate when we release the upcoming set in a couple months. Thereafter we will do another rotation, of some unknown size and timing, dependent on the capacity of the team. Once those two go out, we will assess what our long term strategy will be.

Hey there, we'll be keeping both Ranked Standard and Ranked Eternal queues up indefinitely while we set up new systems that will allow us to automate more manual processes thus far. Our expectation is that we'll continue alternation between the formats to give players periods of focus. The current ranked season will end as scheduled and provide rewards, but after that, we'll be tightening our team's focus to keep what's most engaging about those modes, while cutting down on the parts that require higher amounts of time with limited player benefit.

But yes, unfortunately, we won't be supporting gauntlets or Runeterra Opens going forward.

Was fun while it lasted, don't really fault the devs at all, clearly an issue of upper management.

Sorry for the confusion, but just to clarify, ranked standard and eternal queues will still be up - its the gauntlet and tournament systems that will go into hibernation.

Ranked seasons will be smaller in scope, but you'll still be able to play in those queues while we figure out a steady state for those modes.

Possibly the worst part of all this is that I don't even think this is going to make PVE better. 3 star level 30 champs are already pushing the limit of making the game unrecognizable, and Asol's path is kind of the upper limit on how difficult the game can be while still being fun.

More star powers and higher difficulty runs isn't going to make the game better. It's going to result in matches where if you don't combo off and kill them by turn 2 you lose.

So we're pretty excited by the breadth of design opportunity we have in The Path of Champions - we wouldn't be pushing into the zone of 6 stars (and beyond!) if we didn't see the potential and space for it.

For example, with the Freljord adventure, I can tell you that our internal playtests have shown that really different archetypes than before stand the best chance at beating Lissandra; what works against ASol will get a rude welcome from the Ice Witch.

Hey there! So there's both some stuff we do currently that players have responded to incredibly well, and some future plans we have in store.

Currently, we've seen that in the Emporium, legacy cosmetics are heavily outperformed by purchases of Champion Fragments and event passes that include Path of Champions resources. We've also had a few bundles focused on champs like Aurelion Sol and Elise, and players have come out in force for those offerings.

It's true that currently all these resources can be unlocked by playing (except for the Aurelion Sol skin) over time, but the appetite to support LoR is clearly coming through in what players are buying. Some things are premium exclusive for now, but will eventually be introduced into the free pools. That being said, we're very focused on sustainability, so you'll be seeing an increase in the things players can purchase.

So, our future plans are built with this overwhelming demand in mind - continue to provide n...
