This was actually supposed to have been fixed last week. Can you check if you've got an update for the app/Windows pending? The problem wasn't actually with our game but how the app read ownership and if it's not updated, it may not work. I'll also let our Nvidia contact person know so they can double check on their e... We've reached out to our GFN point of contact and asked them to see what's going on. I'll update the thread when I hear back.

The details in post 11 are amazing, good job @Generalizor and thank you! I do agree though that it's not really a long term solution ><. I had a chat with one of the CKIII wizards and they've asked for some files so if anyone affected by this can zip up the entire \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\crashes folder and attach that they can open an internal investigation and see if they can sort this out.

Ch3m4 said: Well, with all the respect in the world, I think you didn't pay attention. I'll hope that one day an update will fix the problem, just like the last update messed it up.
Thanks for your help.
This isn't something we can fix as it's not the games fault. What I think has happened is that the gamepass app/most recent Windows update changed permissions and since you've got it installed in the Windowsapps folder it most likely won't work. Please try what Andrew suggested above:

  1. Uninstall the game
  2. Open the game pass app
  3. ...

Also, for anyone with this same issue, if you check the installation directory for Stellaris there's a Stellaris application file, if you run that it should skip the launcher, does that start the game?

Hmmm that error looks like this would solve: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-or-file-46361133-47ed-6967-c13e-e75d3cc29657

Can you work your way through that and see if anything makes a difference?

Can you guys check if there are any logs generated in your \Documents\Paradox Interactive\Stellaris GamePass folder? In particular the crashes folder. We've had a hard time replicating this so we're at a bit of a loss here.

We've just released a launcher update. Please restart Steam and check if the launcher updates to 2023.4.1 and then start the game. For Linux and Mac users, it may be another few minutes before the update is available.

Actually this should be sorted very shortly :p. A hotfix is in the works and you should get a launcher update in a little bit.

If you could attach the launcher logs (Settings in Launcher > export logs > attach them) that'd be great as I've passed it on to the launcher team but they need to logs to try and figure out what's going on!

Possibly a stupid question but have you tried closing Steam completely, rebooting your PC and then starting Steam as administrator? Basically the problem is that the launcher couldn't talk to Steam:

Steam reported an unknown error. Additional information: Couldn't get SteamId: Steam API is not initialized

This shouldn't impact your game though. I double checked and whilst I see the same in the launcher, in game it shows as owned and enabled. The launcher team is aware of this and looking into it.

Can you give it another go now? It should be sorted from what I understand.

Also, please make sure you're on the latest version of the game, the crow won't appear unless you're on 1.8 or above.

Can both of you check if you have the Płock Diadem in your barbershop? I've confirmed that you're both signed up and have the item registered to your account so it should really be there!

What if you stick your save games in your Documents\Paradox Interactive\Crusader Kings III\save games folder? I understand you moved your installation to a new SSD but your Documents folder should still be on your C drive and have this folder.
