the first time ive seen rioters in a thread on reddit in forever. would be nice to see some feedback on other issues that pop up. like loss of tokens from event pass.
this thread is just a circle jerk of them talking about how great riot's pto system is. feels like a hidden #ad tbh
Sometimes Rioters do comment on those threads, but in general you only want to comment on threads related to your subject matter expertise if you're being Professional About It, and engaging with any kind of social media is.. emotionally taxing.
Just because we don't respond, doesn't mean we didn't see! You're seeing lots of comments here because everyone is pretty familiar on Riot's PTO policy.
Read moreI'm not an engineering manager, but I am a tech lead of two teams with roughly ~15 people across them. I frequently advocate for folks to take time off and encourage folks to find healthy ways to disconnect.
I also know folks who's personal value (their own self-evaluation) is tied to their outputs in work and currently live alone in this covid-19 work from home world we're in. For some, taking time off can actually be a negative effect.
As an aside though, I'd say we definitely don't have a "never use your PTO" work culture. As an example of this, our paternity leave is pretty amazing. The policy back in 2018 was only 1 month (still not bad, but not as great as other places). We updated it in 2019, but Riot backdated it to all births that occurred in 2018. I ended up acquiring an extra 2 months of time off.
I'm one of those people that are really bad at disconnecting from my work, because I genuinely love it, and I'm highly engaged. Some of the folks from...

From personal experience, no - everyone pushes each other to take PTO. During my first couple of years my manager actually forced me to take time off because I wasn't taking nearly enough off. However, there are a lot of people who would have taken PTO during summer usually that have not done so due to COVID (as there's nowhere to go). This helps force people to take that rest.
Additionally, WFH has really blurred the lines between work and free time because many people are working at the same desk as they recreate in, so even when you're taking time off you're probably still keeping an eye on slack or something.
Also, really, we've done so much work since the start of the year, so it'll be good to have a proper rest. I find it really hard to reset so if I'm just having one or two days off I don't really ever stop thinking about work - having two weeks off (I booked a week off next to the Riot week off) will really help me actually relax!
Congratulations my dude. Excelsior!
Question: Are there any rioters playing on eune? I've never seen one in my 7 yrs of playing :))
I know of at least two, but most Rioters who could play on EUNE play on EUW or TR. Sorry friend. :(
Who would you say is the most skilled or highest ranking Rioter? If you can't answer this question because of privacy reasons I understand.
Also, shoutout to Riot Redbeard who I matched against top lane. He's a really cool guy, a good Sett player too. I introduced him to our One True Kraken Priestess, and unfortunately he was not in motion and caught The Slapp.
H4xDefender in NA, riot arwyll in EU
Used to be me in EU but I am super washed up and disengaged from solo q these days
That is really cool that you met a rioter in game. I did not know they queue up for games. I wonder what rank some of them are.
Of those that play League, we have roughly the same distribution as the regular playerbase but it's more weighted toward higher ranks due to the playtest teams and the fact that Rioters are disproportionately more likely to invest time in our games
Cmon man he was so nice to play against
he's a nice guy but friends have gotta make fun of each other that's just the deal!
Won zed 1v1 against riot mikouz and also got some rp for it
he's on my team and I am so going to poke at him for losing Zed 1v1s
Rioters play ranked and are in D4? Huge conflict of interest here. “That fiddles just one shot me” “Nerfed”
man if I had the ability to nerf champions then you would know it lol
Since everybody is talking about it, after 2 and a half years of playing the game, I played my first game with a Rioter called ARedHerring a few days ago. Me and him carried as Camille Top & him using Kha'Zix Jungle. Even if we smashed the enemy Darius Top (0/4) he ended up 12/8 and nearly carried, but in the end we won through my splitpushing and his picks :)
I'm sorry you had to experience my jungle.
The mental gymnastics to soothe a guilty conscious is astounding. This guy thinks it's fine to support a support a country going full Nazi because he feels he can protect people in the west from privacy violations? Woke capitalism at it's finest, what a joke.
It's fine to work for Riot, but don't go around pretending you care about human rights of other countries.
I actually do care about the human rights of other countries. But I also recognise there's a limit to the impact I can have. I do the good where I can. I sleep well enough at night knowing I am doing some good rather than doing nothing because I'm not ethically perfect.
Thank you for speaking out about important issues like this. I think you deserve a lot of credit for that as an individual.
With that said, I'm still dissapointed that the team as a whole, who have proven they have collective bargaining power, aren't using it to do something about this. It's not unreasonable to assume that Riot could force tencent to allow it to purchase the company back by staging a complete walkout, considering most if not all of the development happens in America (as of right now, this may not always be the case.)
This is a complex situation and there's a lot of stuff that doesn't reach the public (nor should it). I can't tell you not to pass judgement on any one person, but you should be aware that you don't have the full story of anything that is going on.
Dude, it is so difficult to trust anything you say! Even if you are named after a side character from A Pup Named Scooby Doo, you're a literary device! Very clever, Red Herring. I see what you did there.
This is an original joke :)
Edit: deleted comment because person I am replying to disproved my claims
I was protesting in support of the former and have publicly condemned the latter.
also alot of rioters (like head of the balance team) were speaking out against it, that's the first time i have ever seen them do that
I’m so proud of my colleagues for speaking up against this. The unity displayed made me tear up several times tonight.
Annie is probably the most approachable new mid laner to learn.
Twisted Fate is really good for learning more in-depth parts of mid lane that are beyond just trading.
Read moredoes that happen to malphite too ? ,cause he has 1000 range and 80% of adc doesn't have any tool to dodge that without items or summoner spells, which is kind of f**ked up when you see everyone having 38 seconds cdr r , and see jax/fiora getting more skills towards 6 seconds cooldown late game without 40% cdr . ( it just feels wrong what happens when you see cc/dashes/jumps have no anymore counter part to them power spike , for exemple jax jump 700 radius and you give him 6 sec cd in late game , when he get it every 4 seconds in a fight on 40% cdr ).
What's the point of having 40% cdr limit or 45% cdr limit , if you can further reduce it from cloud drakes and ultimate hunter your ultimate.
And does it makes anymore sense to call it ultimate ,if you have it every fight , where is season 3 when you was suppouse to hit your R and make the difference with it , and in return if you would miss it to get punish by enemy team. ( having the advantage of seeing your oponne...
It's far easier to dodge Malphite's ultimate than Rakans old RW combo. It was so fast there was legitimately no counterplay.
