In our advertising and trailers we have said "4 December".

We are launching simultaneously around the world, so we aimed to make sure the game is available to most players before 4 December.

The release date on the Steam Store is set by Valve and gives you a countdown by hour. Only 11 hours to go!

In Wellington, Icarus unlocks at the convenient time of 11am Saturday (NZT).

DirectX 11 is our default setting
When you begin Icarus you can choose between DirectX 11 or DirectX 12. DirectX 11 provides the fastest and most stable game experience, and is our default setting. Enable DirectX 12 if you have an RTX graphics card and want to play with RTX Global Illumination (we recommend a 3000 series card for RTXGI).

NVIDIA DLSS and FSR acceleration technologies are enabled in both settings.

Performance Optimization Tips

• Choose the DirectX 11 setting when you load Icarus
  
• Update to the latest graphics card drivers. Both NVIDIA and AMD have updated their drivers for Icarus
  
• Experiment with your Graphics Settings to find a setting that works best for your PC. Try Medium and High settings

Dean the gamerunner plays the game on a 16GB machine fine, and has been streaming his performance on his Twitch channel recently if you wanted to check performance.

The minimum specs run the game fine, don't be put off by the Recommended Specs being higher.

10pm Friday 3 December 2021 UTC
11am Saturday 4 December 2021 NZT

You can start pre-downloading now and it will unlock at these times.

Yes that's on purpose. Players requested Outposts be safe without dangerous weather and creatures.

You are right. Launch is 10pm UTC (I made a typo).

You can choose to either drop down to a permanent Outpost (with no time limit) or a timed Prospect mission.

That's odd. We updated all our Steam Store banners earlier today. They don't mention the Beta anymore (it ended 10 days ago) and it now says "First Cohort" and "Pre-load now."

Maybe your Steam client has cached the old graphics?

Yes there will be a fresh install for launch.

The app in your Steam Library will be called "Icarus" and is different from the "Icarus Beta" app used during the Beta Weekends. You can safely uninstall Icarus Beta now.
