Hey, agency side market researcher here :D Do you have any tips on making it into the research industry within gaming?

Hey there! I can't speak to the whole industry, but I can speak to my experience at Riot :) I think the most important things you can do are to demonstrate (1) you have most of the skills that they need, and you're open to learning the rest; (2) you're open to both giving and receiving feedback, and (3) you've got a growth mindset, with a strong desire to learn and improve.

For the first, I'd recommend watching the different vods we have of talks at different conferences. Steve Mack has an outstanding talk at the Game UX Summit 2016 about our embed model. I'd also recommend you read Lean UX by Jeff Gothelf.

Hope this helps <3

Interacting with the community is a big deal that many of them don't seem to be aware of.

we <3 you too, fam =D

It takes some time to get all that set up. I just chatted with one of our comms folks this morning to get me set up with it.

Is Riv on valorant team?

Esports casters fall under a different team than game teams. (So people like Dash, Phreak, and Riv aren't on the League team).

I'm guessing blate recognized my name. I'm a VALORANT dev, but I also happen to be Riv's fiance.

Any chance you are trying to install the game on a virtual machine (or using a cloud gaming service which uses virtual machines)? Most of the folks I have seen get this error are trying to install on a virtual machine. As far as I am aware that is not supported due to anticheat reasons.

I love that you guys lurk around here. Really hoping I can get whitelisted on the 7th. Your game looks awesome!

As I expected from Riot, we will have high quality community interaction and a great game!

we love having a community that appreciates it! :) its been a core philosophy from the very beginning of Valorant production that we would all engage with the community. and now that the time is here its so exciting to share and talk about the game with everyone!

Most likely not because they're two separate games and would have two different currency systems. I also have spare riot points on lol but I really don't think they'll transfer.

correct - riot points and valorant points are two different currencies

Any chance you are running the installer in a virtual machine?

How would you know this information when the Anti-cheat is not out as well?

The anticheat is installed as part of the installation process.

There was a League of Legends forum post about anticheat and virtual machines which provided some context as to why virtual machines were not supported but the League forums are gone now :(.

Tried restarting the computer multiple times. Granted, I'm using a virtual machine to play, so there might be errors popping up due to that.

I believe it is related to the virtual machine. I believe Riot's anticheat has virtual machine detection and doesn't allow them.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news here, but you're technically below the minspec here. Definitely going to see sub 30 FPS.

From what I can find online I think this card supports Shader Model 4.0 (required by VALORANT) if you have the latest drivers installed.

The game MAY run but it's going to be heavily GPU limited. We don't test this spec internally so even if it runs on launch we won't guarantee future patches will continue to support it.

The CPU is also only 1.8Ghz instead of the 3.0 Ghz we recommend.

I think you'll have a really hard time unfortunately.

In terms of things you can do to try and make it better. You should be sure your laptop has two memory sticks in it to make use of the increased memory bandwidth. 2x2GB is going to outperform 1x4GB by quite a bit. If you can find a reseller you might be able to find a stick for cheap ~$5. This is especially true for players using integrated chipsets.

I would double check that there is no process called RiotClientServices.exe running. If there is none, then I would try restarting.

If restarting doesn't work, I would recommend reaching out to player support.

As some folks have already noticed, running the installer only installs the login screen unless you actually have access to the closed beta. If you don't have access, it doesn't do anything if you already have League of Legends or Legends of Runeterra installed.
