Just letting you know.

WindTre should have fixed this a couple of hours ago. Please let me know if this is not the case.

however when I'm in game it's 54ms, any way for me to fix it?
I know this is trivial but it's hard for me to know if I'm having bad ping or not with it not showing in lobby

Here are all the pics : https://imgur.com/a/eu4LPmv

I’ll reach out to them. They are not sending the ping traffic from the menu into the vpn tunnel most likely.

Do you have any vpn recommendations? that would be greatly appreciated, also if there is any free vpns?

We have heard good feedback regarding gaming specific ones like Exitlag and Wtfast. There are other alternatives out there like tunnelbear, express vpn, nord vpn etc. You will need to try a few of them to find one that works well for your ISP and you want to connect to the VPN servers that are close to the server location you want to play on.

It is not this simple unfortunately. Your ISP could send all the traffic for our network to Europe and ignore our presence in the Middle East, but that would apply to all users of that provider and wont provide you with the best experience for all the future titles that we release with local server presence.

You are going to need to use a VPN that lets you select a European termination point to resolve this in the short term. Since our network is now closer to Jordan from Dubai, that is the path that is being preferred - your traffic will be routing into Dubai to enter our network. The VPN providers generally host with local networks that allow very targeted routing, which is why they are able to provide solutions to this. This is something our team are looking at solutions for but it will take time.

Yes - we wont be able to get better than this without adding additional network links this will take a significant amount of time. Egypt was setup to go via Milan and Frankfurt (probably because the cable across the sea lands in Marseille) because League of Legends is hosted in Frankfurt and this will be the better path for the majority once we start using this infrastructure for LOL also. Any VPN provider that lets you terminate into Paris or select the geography you land in should be able to route you around this.

except frankfurt, for some reason.

Which vpn are you using?

Which ISP please- if you know how, a traceroute to 162.249.72.1 will also help. Is Bahrain ping the same?

ty, a bit of a tangent, but usually my European friends have a better ping to South Africa than me, of course they usually have better internet in general, but is that in part due to the network topology thing, that even our connection to SA runs through a European POP to get to SA, with the same happening to Europeans too but just because for us the point is in the opposite direction of SA, we get higher pings, or is it just our poorer infra-structure?
Also any plans for a north African Server XD?

Probably no plans for North Africa. We only just got Capetown done this year.

The reason they have a better ping from Europe is most of South Africa’s connectivity runs via submarine cable and will land direct into a hub like Marseille or London. For North Africa you’re probably going via Europe to reach sub Saharan Africa.

This should improve sometime in the next week. We are aiming to try and get Paris, London and Madrid back down however because of our network topology, it might be a few ms higher than before as we run Cairo into Milan first for redundancy reasons.

EU from Egypt should be a lot better now

"if you’re located between two of our network points of presence then unfortunately one of them is going to be your entry point" if I'm not misunderstanding, this would mean that previously Paris or somewhere close to Paris was the POP being used as entry mostly for me (since it used to have the lowest ping), but now you've a new one closer to UAE through which I'm connecting to others? but also if so why is the Frankfurt server's ping still the same? right now the game is basically unplayable on most servers for North Africans, traceroute:

1 <1 ms <1 ms <1 ms [192.168.1.1]

2 5 ms 6 ms 5 ms 10.45.5.2

3 5 ms 5 ms 5 ms 10.36.22....

However, 98% of my playtime was spent on London due to most my friends being European and now I'm afraid I won't be able to anymore. I'll try the VPN thing later today but I doubt any free services are good enough to provide a stable enough connection and idk about paying for a VPN provider just to play on a server I've already been playing on for years.

50ms seems high. For reference - we go from Cairo to Dubai in 45ms, via Riyadh. If you can paste a traceroute to 162.249.72.1 or DM it to me I will see if we can further optimize. Unfortunately a lot of these issues only become visible to us once infrastructure has gone live as it is difficult to predict how every ISP will route towards us. We are still going through a lot of the data we have gathered in the last day and working out what our next moves are. It might take us a few weeks to finish tuning the region.
