Originally posted by Bakiki: I'm getting a UE4-Atlas Fatal Error on startup, updated drivers, validated files, even edited settings on my graphics card, and still haven't made it to the main menu yet. I have like an hour put onto this game just from the amount of times I've relaunched with attempted fixes.
I would suggest reaching out to support and providing your logs and DXDiag file

We are aware that some players on Deck are crashing specifically in the Highlands when they pause the game. We have a fix we're currently testing and hope to get it out soon. For the time being we recommend pausing in less dense areas of the highlands or going back to Skylight first. Thank you for your patience.

I'll have to see how it runs on my desktop, but I'm debating refunding until performance is better as I'd hoped to mostly play this on deck. It definitely shouldn't be verified (even though that means next to nothing, as there are a lot of cases like this).

an unreal engine crash before hand usually points to corrupt files and/or drivers. I would a clean drivers update and also verify your files in Steam.

Originally posted by Ruzan: Thank you for looking into these issues. I just bought this on my steam deck and have played like an hour before it crashed. I'm not going to refund because the game seems like something I could sink a lot of hours into.
Yeah in the meantime just don’t pause in highlands if you need to walk away. I’d just put the deck to sleep or return to skylight. Know it’s annoying but we’re on it.

TIA

We have no plans to invalidate save files. It’s not a guarantee due to us being in Early Access but not planned.

Can you share your DXDiag so we can see what might be going on?

UPDATED: 6/18

Welcome to post launch!

We are currently tracking 3 major issues that we consider critical due to blocking progress. While we don't have an ETA for them just yet, the goal is to solve them asap. They may roll out as one hotfix or a few. Once we have an update we'll post it. Thanks again for playing!

  • Some players on Steam Deck are crashing in menus when in the Highlands.
NOTE: We released a patch on 6/14 to cut down on crashes, but will not eliminate them all. We'll continue to work on performance optimizations.
  • Players are unable to complete "Deal at the Crossroads" due to an invisible NPC
  • Players who claim an item from a Reward Tower with a full inventory will not get the item
  • Players unable to move in a Gloom Tear
  • Players unable to complete "The Hollowed Heart"
  • Player is unable to interact with Omen upon summoning a W...

Originally posted by Hexerin: Even with the top end founders bundle, you won't be able to get all the exclusives. Was mildly intrigued about the game being converted to a monetization-less singleplayer/coop thing with this relaunch, but any interest I had is now gone knowing that the game is impossible to get 100% completion on.
These cosmetics are for the people who spent money in-game via Runesilver (but we did include the Runesilver from packs in the total). We were fully aware that some people would be unhappy they were not obtainable in-game but the flip side is, if they had no compensation for the money they spent, they'd feel burned. This is a damned if you do damned if you don't situation. But again these are PURELY cosmetic.

This is inaccurate. We did not receive verification until we went to single player co-op.

That said, we are investigating some crashes we're seeing on Steam deck specifically in one area (the highlands) but have not received wide reports of poor performance. OP can you tell us a little more about what happened?

Originally posted by Breakdowns: I love the new format. Playing with my spouse is excellent.

But it seems like the optimisation has taken a step back from where it was before the game ceased to be a live service. I especially miss the ability to enable pre-compiling shaders since that update alone seemed to fix all my problems previous but it's gone now (as far as I can tell).

Excited to keep playing, just hoping that the stuttering eases up a bit over time.

sorry what do you mean by "I especially miss the ability to enable pre-compiling shaders since that update alone seemed to fix all my problems previous but it's gone now (as far as I can tell)." Not sure as that wasn't an option before? you can always reinstall drivers to force recompile or manually dump them.

What are your specs?

it's right here. There's nothing mysterious about it.

Yea, we are both on Steam, and we can both see that we're playing the game. We've played countless other games on Steam together, all which have worked flawlessly.

We've done a couple of expeditions solo now, but it's still not working. Maybe it's a bug or something.

You do need to be done with the tutorial to play CO-op. Have you tried just inviting her directly through Steam? Basically when you hit that invite button, it’s just gonna bring up the steam overlay. So you can right click on her name to invite her or to join her game directly from the friends list. See if that works.

I’m really depressed. Back when they first started their patreon they ran an auction and I won a signed bottle. It sat on my desk for over 12 years. Upon moving recently it was in a box that went missing. 😭

Thanks again for all the support. Once you’ve played Echoes help us by telling others what you think by leaving an honest Steam Review (it really does help!) as well as telling your friends you want to play co-op with to check us out.

Originally posted by omik4mi: I wouldn't say that, currently if you open the menu in the open world the game drops to 2 fps before completely crashing the steam deck. When leaving the dungeon, the game freezes and crashes the steam deck. Whether the settings are low or medium, it's the same problem.
We currently aren't tracking any issues like this. Do you mind Joining the Discord and submitting your log files from the deck so we can take a look at what might be happening?
