And that’s after they overhauled the challenge system to teach new players a lot more than before. :spazhorror: The learning curve is real.

The new challenge system is clunky and ineffective, they should have left it alone. Players can figure everything out easily these days since they've oversimplified almost every aspect of the game.

Clunky, yes. The whole UI should get an overhaul. I strongly disagree that they should've left it alone and players can figure everything out easily, though. Basic things, like keeping an instruction on how to open the objectives screen until you did it, were missing until recently.

Back in the day I even modded the beginner tutorial, updating the localization to spell out that and other things. Not because it was the point of my mod, but because the need to better explain things was there.

It's easy to forget what it's actually like going into this game if you have zero prior experience. I'd speculate when you say every aspect is oversimplified, you're thinking like, wood blocks transmuting into cobblestone blocks is oversimplified, or having a whole outfit as one armor piece is oversimplified. But a player isn't thinking about that when they're truly new. They're thinking, how do I place a block? Or even, how do I get wood in the first place? When your game is popular, it may be the first game in this genre a player has ever played. So even, 'Oh, you place blocks like Minecraft' won't help everybody.
