Hey there @SpirantCrayon22, some players are able to access the content now if the expansion was prepurchased or bought through Ubisoft+. Therefore this sounds completely fine and the game should not break. That said, as kindly mentioned by @YazX_, it does not hurt to back up saves where you can.
