[2022] [PC] Unable to claim weekly item when using a controller

I play on PC and until now I set the controls to controller only (as opposed to keyboard and mouse, or hybrid). When I tried to redeem the weekly item by following the on-screen prompts (X to redeem, A to confirm) nothing happened. No error, nothing. I could only get it when I changed settings to hybrid, used the mouse to redeem and confirmed with spacebar.
