How the game works:
-you build a military ship, you gain military rating (as seen in diplomacy in comparison tab)
-you lose that military ship, you lose the military rating.
Base line of this is 0, technically if you lose all your military ship and island defences you should get back on 0.
Now here is the issue:
-you buy a military ship from a trader, you do NOT gain military rating.
-you lose that military ship, you LOSE military rating.
Base line is not 0 anymore, it is negative now!
In essence if you buy military ships a lot and lose them in combat you might even end up with such a low military rating that in diplomacy other AIs will think you have no military at all and at this point diplomacy becomes really difficult.
If you buy military ships the game should increase your military rating, just like it does with building military ships, the baseline should always be 0 and should never go in negative.
If you buy military ships you slowly but surely screw up your military rating and how diplomacy functions.
Example: I have 100 military rating, I build a frigate, I now have 102 rating, I lose that frigate, I now have 100 rating again.
I have 100 rating, I buy a frigate, I still have 100 rating, I lose that frigate, I now have 98 rating.
And thats just a frigate, other more advanced ships have higher ratings.
Do that enough and you can see how it escalates.
I hope this gets fixes ASAP because I cannot believe something like this got overlooked...
