I have a problem with Direct X. And that does not depend on DX11 or DX12. It doesn't matter which version I use, the game crashes most of the time before starting but always after starting the game. It is really frustrating. What I always read is change to DX 11 and it will work, but in my case that's is not the solution.
Does anybody have an idea?

Here are my hardware infos:

i7-6700K, 32GB Memory, NVidia GTX1080, SoftwareVersion 17032022

Thank you all for ideas

Hello @orzabal_de thank you for getting in touch with us and sorry to see you have had some trouble running the game with DirectX12 and DirectX11.

To help resolve this, would you be able to try the following fixes that have worked for this error message in the past? >>

Fix 1 >
Locate this folder C:\Anno 1800\Support\DirectX\DXSETUP click on the .exe app and run the DXDiag setup, then install DirectX 11 or 12 when prompted. Test the game on each DirectX version 11 and 12.

Fix 2 >
Occasionally your Windows OS will not update its DirectX versions automatically and you will have to force an update yourself
Step 1: Press the Windows Key and type DXDIAG, then click on the app's logo to run the program. On the first System Information tab, it should tell you near the bottom which version of Direct X you are currently using
Step 2: Go to Windows Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update > Check for Updates
Step 3: If the update is available for your PC, you'll see a 'Feature update to Windows' message appear under Optional Updates.
Step 4: Begin downloading by clicking 'Download and install now
Step 5: Once installed, test the game on your preferred DirectX version.

Fix 3 >
If you are unable to update your Windows DirectX version manually, you can force the game to open in a specific DirectX version, either 11 or 12, by editing your config file >
Step 1: Go to C:\Users\username\Documents\Anno 1800\config open the config.ini file in a notepad type application and find the part that says DeviceType
Step 2: Change the part that says DX12 or DX11 to your preferred DX version, then save the file. Launch the game afterwards to test the game with that DX version after making the change in the config, instead of the in-game settings

Fix 4 >
This issue can also occur when your GPU requires an update. Please update your GPU to the latest driver update available. If you still have problems after this step with your 1080, please let us know exactly what driver number you upgraded to?

Hey @daimkrysset , thanks for your post about this. I can understand your frustration over running the game with Dx12, and I can see that our investigations are ongoing with this.

It'd really help us out if you could ensure you've performed all the steps from our troubleshooting guide. In particular from that guide, please make sure you've updated your graphics drivers and operating system fully, you've verified the game files, and you don't have any unnecessary background programs interfering with the game (such as system or graphics optimisers).

While you're doing that, I've reached out to our teams about this internally, too. We've got no updates to share quite at the moment, but as soon as we do, we'll post here in the forum in the News & Announcements section.

Let me know if I can clarify any of this!

Hello, @Dalrodor thank you for the suggestion of attempting to change the setting to borderless window.

@tinapat4445 Hello! I am sorry to hear that you are encountering this as well. Have you given the steps that Ubi-Thrupney advised to test if that made any improvements for you?
