Hey! Here to confirm the DDE upgrade for owners of the Early Access game on PC extends to those that purchased the game on GOG too 😊 You should also be able to play with other players on Steam.

MULTIPLAYER CONTENT INFORMATION

Is there multiplayer in Early Access?
Yes, there will be 4 player online multiplayer, but split-screen will not be immediately available on launch. In 4 player online multiplayer, players can either start a multiplayer journey together and both create their own custom character (origin character will not be available as main player characters at the start of Early Access) or join a friends single player game during the adventure. In this case they will take over a companion.

Is there Cross Play?
As of Patch 8, Direct Connection works between Steam and GOG, but does not between and computers (PC/Mac).

Will there be split-screen in Early Access?
Split screen will not be available on Early Access launch, but will be available on launch.

Will there be DM/GM mode?
There will not be DM/GM mode in Early Access.

Baldur's Gate 3 is still set to release in August 👍

Pricing will stay the same upon release 🙂

Patch 9 will be live for Mac OS a bit later, as our teams are working on some final troubleshooting.

We're constantly working to ensure Baldur's Gate 3 takes as little space as possible while keeping the high quality. We've managed to improve the disk space for Early Access, but we can't confirm the final size at release yet.
We'll do our best to keep it tight! :)

“Direct Connect” (yes) is possible between platforms - but all players must be on the same patch number in order for it to work. Note that in the first few weeks of Early Access there may be some minor version discrepancy between platforms as we move to fix and address issues rapidly, and in these cases you won’t be able to play between ‘stores’. Hey! Many things have changed or have been added with updates along the way. We usually post these as Hotfix/Patch notes over here: https://steamcommunity.com/app/1086940/eventcomments/ (It's a bit of a long read at this point! But checking the main Patch notes might give you an idea :) )

A Lone Wolf mode is planned, but won’t be in the game at the beginning of Early Access.

Controllers will not be supported on PC during the Early Access, but we are working on it, so you can expect Controller Support on PC at some point during the development of the game :)

The story takes place 100 years after the events in Baldur’s Gate 2 and shortly after the events of Descent into Avernus. Obviously, we don’t want to spoil anything but it will be connected to the previous games in meaningful ways 😉

We really don't have time to "censor" players. If a comment is taken down, it is because it doesn't follow the Steam forums rules. Simply and plainly.

I'm leaving this thread up to detail our recent actions, even if we don't usually comment Moderation actions.

Only two threads have been deleted recently, the latter were a source of trolling & unconstructive comments. We are pretty open to criticism, as long as it is constructive and there is something interesting to take away from it.
Steam was slightly slow yesterday, which led to comments being automatically held-up "under review", this wasn't a result of moderation.

If a comment fails to be constructive or interesting for the community, or made only to be a source of unfounded or slanderous comments, it will be removed to keep the forums tidy, fun, and interesting for everyone.
