Originally a Turkic slave-soldier, Ibn Tulun was sent to Egypt as governor by the Abbasid caliph, where he established himself as an independent ruler.

Only the lands your rulers directly manage matter in inheritance. Invest first your resources in the relevant infrastructures that can improve the status of your capital. Favour your playstyle, terrain, strengths. Then later, focus on other areas that you can secure

Chola, Chalukya, Paramara... The Medieval Indian armies wore tunics, turban, trousers or fought bare chest until the chainmail armour & scales were introduced in the 12th century.
These armours have made their war elephants much more effective... but still easily scared by fire🔥
