I'm sorry.
Here's a story: I made a game with some friends (several of whom work here at Phoenix) called Dawngate. Prior to EA pulling the plug on it, we ran an open beta for a good while. It was a ton of fun, and our dev team was very close to the community. But the reason that I'm telling you this is because of the constant DMs I'd receive about how that game helped people through depression, loss, difficult times. Whether it was the gameplay, the music, the integration of storytelling into MOBA, or the gameplay itself, the fact that we'd made something that could help so many people beyond simply entertaining them was profound.
It forever changed me as a developer - I'm no longer capable of working on games that don't have heart. I'm glad that our efforts are giving you some comfort through this. I'm so glad that Dauntless is here for you.
