I'm looking into this - regular platforms also melt, but so does pretty much everything icy in Glacial Strata, which potentially makes the other reply by Dwarfurious wrong (which is the main reason I'm looking into it). :D
It sounds very much related to your internet connection or system, you should try looking into those. It can help to see if you have the issues when not hosting, or playing solo
