Herr B. said: Interesting data, for sure.

However, I wouldn't read much into it. From the first graph alone (the difficulty), it is easy to see that a sizeable amount of data comes from inexperienced or occasional players, who have no idea of what's even going on. All of the data below that support this claim, especially the division design.

I would honestly prefer it, if you would filter out all data from "easy" or "very easy" campains. Then perhaps we could see how the hivemind has reacted to the NSB changes.
This data DD is deliberately aimed... Read more

Hey folks! Please do not just post a screenshot of your game without giving context to what the issue is! It's much better if you post your issue in the bug forum where we can keep track of it!

Ethereld said: Strategic Redeployment using railways is dreamlike. But what happens in areas with no trains or damaged railways? Will the pathfinding and speed work the same?
yes, there are separate speed calculations for both the current rail level and the current infrastructure level. The pathfinder will work out which is the fastest route based on both these speeds so if there are no railways between 2 points but there are varying levels of infrastructure it will still find the fastest path.

Hello there C0RAX, here!

For my first HoI dev diary, I’m here to show you the second part of the Officer Corps, a new way of personalising your military that will be included as part of No Step Back and the Barbarossa update.

In the last dev diary we explained how we want to allow you to specialise your military branches with the leadership and advisors. Today we bring to you some new features that allow you to customise how your military operates, and act as a further use for the new sources of branch experience that were hinted at last week.

You may have been wondering what all those shiny boxes with emblems were for. I'm here to tell you they are the new Officer Corps Spirits.

Spirits are a new way to specialise your military, generals and even help your division designs. Each branch has multiple categories for its spirits that affect different aspects of the way they operate. Here I have shown you the spirits of th... Read more

Thanks for reading.

Both Microsoft and Steam have options for turning off automatic updates! If you need help locating the setting, PM me and I will be happy to walk you through it :)

Not in country packs. We are, as mentioned earlier, working on the next full expansion as well since a while back

STOCKHOLM - 23 September 2020 - For centuries, the Bosporus and Dardanelles have been key to strategy in the Mediterranean. A gate that joins the Black Sea and the Mediterranean, a short crossing that divides Europe from Asia. In the middle of a world crisis, this strait is an attractive target for any great power that seeks to dominate the region. Is neutrality even possible when war arrives on your doorstep?

Hearts of Iron IV: Battle for the Bosporus is a new country pack for Paradox Development Studio’s best-selling grand strategy wargame. New events and decision paths let you take control of the destinies of Bulgaria, Greece or Turkey through years of uncertainty and conflict. Is it possible for these middle powers to steer a path between factions that will demand their support?

Features of Battle for the Bosporus include:
  • National Focus Tree for Bulgaria: Balance the factio...

Well, since the meme thread is back, might as well post some content. (And this thread has a special dispensation with regards to necromancy).

Earl Grey Tea said: for new players, why not create a version that has all the current DLCs, which would be slightly cheaper than buying the game and all the DLC seperately. Also maybe a season pass?

(also maybe include unit packs/content packs in the actual expansions instead of selling them seperate, that'll definitely help)
There is this:

In an effort to clean up the number of purchasing options available for Hearts of Iron IV, we have decided to stop selling the Colonel’s Edition of the game. This will allow us to focus on updating our product to be more representative of what new players are looking for.

If you already own the Colonel’s Edition, absolutely nothing changes for you. Your game is safe, and you will not lose access to any of the bonuses attached to that edition.

For now, the cosmetic content from the Colonel Edition will not be available for new players (it will still be active for people that already own it). We are looking into the best ways to make this content available in the near future.

Riekopo said: Yeah it's a good mechanic they added but it needs more work. Like the ships/ship combat from Man The Guns. In my opinion the AI should be programmed on Historical mode to license things that they did historically. Maybe it should be its own setting.

The mechanic is great. We use it in MP all the time. Especially now that you can't browse a country's tech by browsing licenses.

But the AI seems to be a bit silly about the whole thing.

STOCKHOLM - 25 February 2020 - Conquest is never easy, but the 20th Century brings new challenges. More infrastructure means more opportunities for disruption. Radio links saboteurs and freedom fighters across occupied territory. It is never hard to find willing collaborators, but it takes a lot of work to put them in place. Direct resisters, special agents, and quislings can all be found in Hearts of Iron IV: La Résistance.

La Résistance is the newest expansion to Paradox’s best-selling grand strategy wargame about the Second World War. In La Résistance, your nation has new resources at its disposal. At the center of the game is the Intelligence Agency that lets you train and deploy spies to undertake special missions cracking codes, stealing secrets and assisting resistanc... Read more

You guys have far more faith in static AA than I do. I don't deny that it has value, but now that you can target specific types of buildings, it's value is primarily in terms of time and effort. With enough static AA to matter, it means that the STRs have to bomb the AA first before hitting more valuable targets. But the static AA can be demolished, and then the STRs can hit the things you want. Or the defender has to put so much effort into repairing the static AA that they are spending CIC on the AA repairs and not doing things like building factories or MIC. And to get enough static AA to matter, you have to actually build it in the first place and research relevant techs that make it better. The starting static AA in the game for every country that has some is too small to matter.

Here's some examples:

First example: 600 1940 STRs versus the maximum number of AA guns in northern France. The bombers are halfway through the Strategic Dest... Read more
