I was wondering if there can be a Skip to area ____ mechanism. Don't know how hard that is but to power dps back up sometimes I find myself having to go back a few hundred or thousand areas. Instead of pressing the back arrow on the area map, is there a way to say... Skip to area 3000 or something like that? Or is there a short hand mechanism to do this that I do not know about?

You can hold the Shift key and press the left arrow key and it takes you back to area 1.
The mouse wheel also works on scrolling the mini map, though you want to choose an area before you either change areas or get wiped, depending on why you need to change areas.
If you're looking to go to a specific area, there's no mechanic for that yet, but it has been requested before, so I'll add a vote to that item on our suggestion list for you.
