Good news, Trainers! Children will soon have a new way to log in to Pokémon GO. Niantic Kids, powered by SuperAwesome, is a new log-in platform that will be available to support kid Trainers in Pokémon GO.

Parents can register with Niantic Kids to manage their child’s privacy via the parent portal. Niantic Kids helps you review and approve your child’s permissions before they can play and provides options to control the personal information shared in Pokémon GO. Now that the whirlwind Pokémon GO Summer Tour is ending soon with our Pokémon Safari Zone event in Yokosuka, Japan, we’re excited to announce the dates of the next few Community Days happening this year. Mark your calendars for September Community Day, which features the Grass-type Pokémon Chikorita, on Saturday, September 22!

A Grass-type Pokémon originally discovered in the Johto region, Chikorita will appear in the wild for three hours. And if you evolve a Bayleef into Meganium during that three-hour window, your Meganium will know a special move to be announced later. Put those TMs away, Trainers!...

Whether you’re seeking a new Pokédex entry or awaiting the arrival of a Lucky Pokémon, you’ll get a chance to enjoy special bonuses starting August 2 at 1:00 P.M. PDT. All trades—including Special Trades—will cost 25% less Stardust to complete! This lasts until August 19 at 9:00 P.M. PDT and applies to all friends, even brand-new ones.

You can earn more Candy during every trade—netting up to six Candies total. Plus, keep an eye out when you encounter a Pokémon not currently in your Pokédex, as you’ll receive triple XP when you gain a new entry!

Professor Willow has made an important new discovery about Pokémon! His findings suggest that Pokémon can take on a new trait when they are traded. The trait’s origin is a mystery, and you can experience it soon in Pokémon GO!

According to his research, there is a chance that Pokémon, when traded, can become sparkly Lucky Pokémon. It seems that Lucky Pokémon require less Stardust to power up, which means they can reach a higher CP much faster than other Pokémon. Plus, a Lucky Pokémon can be detected by the Pokédex, so you can keep track of them!

• When Pokémon are traded, there is chance that both traded Pokémon become Lucky Pokémon

Pokémon’s legendary year brings more excitement with another Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region—Registeel, which makes its debut in Raid Battles on July 19!

Registeel, the Iron Pokémon, has emerged and will take over Raid Battles from the Ice-type Legendary Pokémon Regice until August 16. Like Regice, this Steel-type Legendary Pokémon has an ironclad defense, but it’s weak to Fire-, Fighting-, and Ground-type attacks!

Our Pokémon GO Summer Tour 2018 will come to a close with our final event, the Pokémon GO Safari Zone event in Yokosuka, Japan! This event kicks off Wednesday, August 29, and lasts until Sunday, September 2 (JST) in Yokosuka City in Kanagawa Prefecture.

Yokosuka is an amazing city known for its fondness for American culture and its beautiful nature. Three city parks (Mikasa, Verny, and Kurihama) will be participating in this special event. Pokémon’s legendary year continues with three Legendary Pokémon originally discovered in the Hoenn region harnessing their power to take over Raid Battles in Pokémon GO, starting with Regice on June 21!

Regice, the Iceberg Pokémon, has awakened from its slumber and will be the first to appear in Raid Battles across the world until July 19. This Ice-type Legendary Pokémon has a strong defense, but is weak to Fire-, Fighting-, Rock-, and Steel-type attacks.

Trading with friends is one of the cornerstone features of Pokémon, and it started at the very beginning with the first video games, Pokémon Red and Pokémon Blue, when a special cable was required to connect two Game Boy systems. So it’s probably not a surprise to say that Trainers from all over the world have eagerly anticipated a Pokémon trading feature since Pokémon GO was announced in 2015. Finally, after many iterations and thoughtful experiments, this feature—alongside a robust friend system—will soon start rolling out to Trainers around the world.

We’re excited to share brand-new ways to interact with your friends in Pokémon GO! The Friends feature will start rolling out to Trainers later this week, allowing you to connect with your real-life friends and keep track of their adventures in Pokémon GO. You’ll be able to send them items, earn bonuses—and even trade Pokémon!

In order to add a friend in Pokémon GO, you must first ask them to share their Trainer Code with you. To invite a Trainer to become your friend, simply enter their Trainer Code and then send them a request. If they accept, you’ll become friends, and you’ll see them in your Friends List.

• Added new social features that allow Trainers to add and remove Friends on their Friend List and build up their Friendship Level. As Trainers gain friendship they’ll earn bonuses when participating in Raid Battles.
• Added a new gifting feature which allows Trainers to send friends Gifts they collect from PokéStops.
• Added the ability for Trainers to trade Pokémon.
• Improved Pokémon Collection screen search functionality enables Trainers to search using “Alola”.

Professor Willow’s Global Challenge

Professor Willow needs your help! On the weekends of our special live events, Trainers from all over the world will be tasked to complete Professor Willow’s Global Challenge! The challenge is simple: complete Field Research tasks!

For the purposes of this challenge, the global community will be split into four parts: The Americas; Europe, the Middle East, and Africa; the Asia-Pacific region; and the main research site itself. Each area will have to complete a set number of Field Research tasks, and if the goals are met, Trainers everywhere will be able to enjoy some amazing bonuses.
