The reporting system in PUBG right now is very responsive. Reporting people will lead to bans which PUBG does notify you about if you report. It's almost a little too responsive as it's not difficult for a really good player to get temp banned from salty players if they receive enough reports against them.
Overall the game seems to be in a good state when it comes to hacking to me. At a minimum it's going to be better then what you're dealing with in Warzone right now. If you are curious I would redownload and see for yourself.

Glad to have you back! The AC team is working around the clock to constantly improve existing systems and bring in new ones to further detect and prevent cheating and as you have noticed yourself, a lot of progress has been done on that end. We're banning tens of thousands of cheaters every week.
It is a constant cat and mouse battle and sometimes, as you notice yourself, you do encounter some that manage to slip through the cracks of the anti cheat.
