I am not sure if this is the correct place to share this, though wanted to provide this information to the development team (and others who are experiencing the same issue) to hopefully assist in a potential work-around for this error. I have been getting this error for many months (I can't remember when it started, this season or the previous season) and while trying everything else people were suggesting (reinstalling Battleye, R6:S, etc) none of these methods seemed to consistently have any results other than wasted time.

In my case, the one thing that I have found to be consistent in fixing this error is:

  • Restart my internet router / switch internet source
  • Run RainbowSix_BE.exe as administrator
  • Wait till R6 launches AND restarts itself
  • Game works and no longer has Updating Security Measures error!


To put type it out in more detail, after restarting my router and running this specific executable as administrator, the game will launch, update security measures correctly, then restart itself and load in to the game properly. I have recently found that restarting my internet router has been enough to resolve the error, though I have previously also had success when switching between WiFi and ethernet, or even going through this process while using my phone's WiFi hotspot.

While this may not work for everyone, It may be worth a shot if you have the option of switching internet connection type and nothing else has worked yet. My hope is that this may be information the Dev team hasn't yet looked in to much that may provide a new perspective that leads to this issue getting fixed!
