I played the game for like 2 hours a while ago and when I went to re-install it and try it again, it loads Ubisoft Connect and tells me "There was a problem authenticating the ownership of this product." Then tells me to contact support. I was speaking with a few reps on Twitter DM's, but it kind of ended before I got anything done... not sure why.

I had assumed it was somehow on a different Ubisoft account, and the rep told me which one was associated with my Steam ID, which doesn't show the game in the Ubisoft Library. Steam installs it and begins to run it no problem.

Any idea how I can actually play this game again?

An authentication error usually happens if the Ubisoft account that is logged into the Ubisoft launcher is not the same as the original Ubisoft account that was used to first activate your game. You can resolve the error by logging back into that original account; however, I can understand that can be tricky if you do not recall which account was used. While your Steam profile can be associated with any account; only one Ubisoft account can be used to access your game. If you remember using a different email address closer to when you purchased your game I can suggest to try logging back in using older credentials to help pinpoint the correct account.
