The Y4S2.2 patch will be primarily bugfixes aimed at cleaning up issues raised during the Test Server and during the early weeks of season release while we prepare for the next update and work on other major issues. Clash and deployable shields have previously been re-enabled on live servers across all platforms, but we are continuing to monitor the fix that went out.

Depending on how many times they exploited it, they can be banned for longer. The minimum is at 2 days. However, there are definitely players who got permabanned during this ban wave. Hope that helps :)

Some for 7.
Some for 15.
Some permanently.

It all scaled depending on how often a player used the exploit.

No, you should be fine. Unless you spammed the hell out of the symbols, and more than several times, if you used the symbols in a normal way you will be fine.

We have now deployed the fix for the chat symbol exploit.

Beginning tomorrow, we will initiate a ban wave in accordance with the following section from the Code of Conduct.

FORBIDDEN CONDUCT:

The following actions violate the Code of Conduct, and can lead to disciplinary action in accordance with the Disciplinary Policy outlined below.

Any conduct which interrupts the general flow of Gameplay in the Game client, forum, or any other Ubisoft medium.

Operator balancing should be coming with the next update or so and has been in the works. The .2 patch of most seasons are typically lighter patches for cleaning-up bugs that didn't go out with the week 1 patch and any other bugs that we may have caught earlier on in the season.
