Seen way too many 1v1s were one person just grabs the other and insta win since instant death gives them guaranteed heavy hits.

The attack move sets are designed after Rock, Paper, Scissors. Each move has a weakness to another. Attack wins over Grab. Grab wins over Block. Block wins over Attack. If another player constantly uses the same move over and over, then this knowledge can be used to your advantage.

Absolutely love it, seemed pretty straight forward, I do agree a tutorial would probably be helpful there's a lot of people that seem to be completely clueless. The mindgames when you really get the hang of it seem really fun!

Glad to hear you are loving the mode so far. We recently released a tips video that players can check out here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Do8QDMXQt4&t

The mode was designed to allow players to use any car, while keeping the attack move sets as equal as possible.

Played 2 games so far, first one was a learning experience, lost my 3 lives pretty fast (2 because myself)

In the 2nd I did a lot better, realized boost was regenerating while on the "ground" and even managed to do an aerial takedown. Still haven't been able to grab anyone but I'm sure that will come eventually.

Gamemode is fun and different, but everyone just leaves as soon as they are out(which I understand) but it still feels kinda weird.

Watching other people playing when I was out did help me.

Stoked to hear that you are enjoying it! Grabbing can be a little tough at first but the easiest way to get the hang of it is to Jump + Hold L2/LT + then dodge into an opponent.

Holding L2/LT overrides your Attack into a Grab. You'll know you do it right when you see the Blue Grab VFX.

The power of the Attack is directly tied to the speed of the Attacking player when making contact. Supersonic speeds will result in Heavy Attacks.

This one can be a bit tricky to master, but the easiest way to get the hang of it is to Jump + Hold LT + and then dodge.

Holding LT basically turns your Attack into a Grab.

Glad you're digging it! I hope I see you in the Arena!

Why didn’t they put grab on the use item button?

All buttons for Knockout are rebindable. Feel free to jump into the Controls tab of the Settings menu and change them to whatever you prefer!

Thanks for the feedback on the tutorial. We've got that on the list of suggestions from the community.

You are correct that just driving into players does not do damage. We actually had an early iteration that did this and it led to everyone just boosting around aimlessly until you made contact with other players, which wasn't very fun after a game or two. So we moved to an Attack based mode.

You have to Attack (dodge) to do damage; and it's all about speed. More speed. Bigger hits.

The Knockout controls are all rebindable from the Controls tab of the Settings menu. Try changing some of those if you're running into compatibility issues with your control scheme.

Bummer. Sorry you're not enjoying it. Got any feedback on what you'd like to see changed?

How do you grab on pc?

If you mean on Mouse and Keyboard - this can be done by using the Left Shift button. If you'd prefer another button, you can rebind it in the Controls tab of the Settings menu.

The option is called "Grab (KO)"

Love the concept but how do you even play? There's no tutorial, and when I try to grab I'm somehow blocking, then grabbing sometimes, then nothing.

This mode is a little different so it can take some getting used to. If you click the "Details" button on the LTM card it has a rundown of the buttons, but here are a few tips:

  • Dodging into another player will Attack. This is indicated by Orange VFX on your car. The faster you are moving the stronger the attack.

  • A backward dodge is always a block. This is indicated by blue shield VFX. Use this to deflect incoming attacks.

  • To grab you have to jump, then hold the Grab button (L2/LT), and then dodge into an opponent. You'll know you've done it right if you see Blue VFX similar to Attack. This one can be tricky to learn at first, but is extremely powerful once you get the hang of it.

There are no power ups in Knockout. The basics of the mode require you to Attack, Grab and Block. You can attack by dodging into other players, Grab by holding the L2/LT button and then dodging into another player, or Block by using backward dodge.

The main key is to go fast. The faster you move when you land a hit the the farther they will go flying.
