Some of them are also made only for the kill 100 million infected achivement.You enter insane defences already built and you farm auto respawning zombies until 400-500k dead maps ends.(above that cap it does not track kills)so it is a kill farm map with nothing to do.

Custom campaigns are very well desgined tough like 28 and 29 years later.

There are really good campaigns like Leiva's Story or these 28 and 28 years after. There are really good custom maps makers like Pobmaestro, Mortal or KarEssMoua... check them to see their custom maps and campaings. ...

There are a lot of streamers that play in this way and if they need to go to the wc the paused. There is no advantage in pausing the game if you don't make any kind of order in game being paused so you can do it without problem.

Please, check that you antivirus or firewall is not blocking a proper game saving. Also if you play locally you should disable STEAM cloud that also brings along several issues like the one you are suffering.
