Before the recent update, I would occasionally get a popup when starting a Royal game that said something like "not enough packets received", which would then send me back to the Royal lobby screen, where I could rejoin the game. This appeared to replace the longstanding "joinbug" where you would join the Royal game, but only in a spectator mode, where you couldn't open any menu to leave the game, and had to quit and re-open Trackmania to play the game. It was much better than joinbug because you only lost about 20 seconds rejoining the Royal game, rather than a minute or two restarting the entire game. Since the update, I have had joinbug when starting the Super Royal finals every single time. I don't know whether the update caused it, but it seems likely. I have not had the "not enough packets received" message since the update. Obviously I would prefer if the issue was completely fixed, but the packet popup was a significant improvement. Now it's worse than ever.

This bug is so frustrating and diminishes the online experience of Trackmania. It's been an issue for over a year and I know many other players who have been affected by it. Why isn't this a priority for the development team?

Hey @brimarine, sorry to hear you're having issues with joining a game. I see you mentionned getting an error saying "not enough packets". This might be due to connectivity issues.

Could you please try these steps to see if it helps in any way ? You can find the ports here.

Can you also share a screenshot of the error message if the issue persists ?

Thanks, everyone for getting in touch about this join bug in the last few hours.

I will pass the information on to our TM team about which game modes this affected you.

@bleakvision could you help answer the following for further investigation, please? >>

  1. Does the synchronizing error message appear on the screen for you?
  2. What game modes did this affect for you?
  3. How many players were playing in that room when you tried to join?
