I have identified a reproduceable crash on track startup regarding the MOTO M-Series.

Whenever starting a track with my MOTU M series as the audio output device (Selected or as default) the game freezes (no crash to desktop but doesn't regain responsiveness).
This freeze occurs right after the music starts.

When switching to speakers or routing audio through a virtual audio cable the crash does not occur. Or with the device selected but audio muted.
This has been happening since the Update that released the Summer campaign but before was working fine. I only just worked out the reason.

The MOTU drivers are found here https://motu.com/en-us/download/product/408/: (https://motu.com/en-us/download/product/408)

This affects all tracks on all game modes.

Multiple clean installs (including removing all temporary files) do not fix the issue.

Hey @Samsbase2008 , thanks very much for getting this report across to us. I understand that, since the Summer update, you've found Trackmania to hang indefinitely when music starts up on any track, but only when using your specific audio output device. Sorry about that!

I appreciate you being so thorough with your reporting of this! Can you answer a few additional questions for me?

  • You've already done some troubleshooting, which is great, but can you check the rest of the steps in our troubleshooting guide? In particular, please make sure you've got Windows itself fully updated, you're running the game with administrator rights, and you've not got any background programs or mods running (particularly anything that controls your audio, or OpenPlanet and similar third party services).
  • You mentioned this doesn't happen while the audio is muted. Did you mean when muting audio in Windows itself, or muting audio (either music or everything) in-game?
  • We had a couple of updates during the summer, so just to be sure, do you recall which month this started happening?

Thanks again for reaching out! I'll keep an eye out for your response 🙂

Thanks for getting back to us.

To allow us to look into this further and collect relevant information for the team to investigate if necessary, could you please open a case on our Support Site and attach your DxDiag and MSinfo system files?

Please let us know if you have any issues with this.

Thank you!
