Hi,
I have an issue which quite literally sprung out of nowhere, as in I didn't do anything at all and this occurred. The first instance which I saw this was the morning of 01/12/2021 just passed midnight.
What is my issue?
I would launch Ubisoft Connect as usual, and I would immediately be hit with the following error, which would cause it to crash:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an usual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
I therefore have not been able to play Trackmania at all and I'm not sure what to do, because this happened to coincidently be very close to an update which happened only a few hours before the error first occurred: https://discussions.ubisoft.com/topic/122974/30-11-2021-new-update-changelog?lang=en-US
What have I done to try and resolve this?
- Restarts - I tried a simple restart of Ubisoft Connect, which didn't work. As well as a restart of my PC, which again brought no improvement.
- Reinstall of TM - I uninstalled Trackmania 2020 via the Microsoft control panel. This interestingly allowed me to boot Ubisoft Connect, but as I went to reinstall the game, it gave the same error and crashed Ubisoft Connect entirely as before (deriving that this is caused by Trackmania solely).
- Command Prompt - According to some solutions, the command "bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVA 3072" which was completed successfully, but did not change anything
- C++ Runtime Repair - I tried to repair the Microsoft Visual C++ package. This did no change.
- C++ Runtime Reinstall - So I uninstalled the C++ package and reinstalled it using: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170: (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-US/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170). Once again, this did not change anything regarding the error.
What's the next move?
If anyone else has encountered the same issue, it would be great to know if it is just me, or if something has caused this for multiple players. I just find it a bit strange that it is absolutely fine that morning, then an update comes and I cannot launch or reinstall it at all. If nothing comes around, I will try and revert to a system image that I took before this error happened. I truly have no clue why this has happened and I would be deeply saddened if this is terminal. But hopefully we can resolve the matter.
Any help or responses would be greatly appreciated to determine what the hell this is. For reference, my Ubisoft username is: "Whizzy..". Thanks very much
