Then the file I need is called output_log.txt

If your Steam is installed in the default location, it will be found here:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data

Wrong file I'm afraid. That's one called GameOverlayUI.exe.log.last - I need the output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux).

See my previous response for where to find it and some file sharing sites you can use. Any cloud drive (like Google Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, iCloud etc) will also work.

To easily find the folder mentioned in the error, right click your game in the Steam library, select Properties, go to the Local Files tab and select Browse local files.

Windows
\SteamApps\common\Cities_Skylines\Cities_Data\output_log.txt

Mac OS X
Users//Library/Logs/Unity/Player.log

Linux
~/.config/unity3d/Colossal Order/Cities: Skylines/Player.log

You can upload it somewhere and link to it, then I'll have a look. Or you can make a post on the official support forums here: https://forum.paradoxplaza.com/forum/forums/support-bug-reports.879/

As we can't attach files here on Steam, you will need to upload the file somewhere else. Here's a few sites you can upload it to, which do not require you to sign up first:

I have Citrix on my computer if this helps identify the problem and helps define the solution.

Please don't copy/paste logs into comments here. The long ones don't fit anyways. :)

Good news is it's definitely Citrix causing it. See this thread for a few workarounds so you can have both the game and Citrix installed and working. :)

Hmm, so it's a new problem. RAM usage is not much lower with a blank map, but CPU and GPU usage will be lower.

Does it also happen with the -noWorkshop and -disableMods launch options in Steam on a new map?

How To Set Launch Options
  • Right-click on the game title under the Library in Steam and select Properties.
  • Under the General tab click the Set launch options... button.
  • Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space) and click OK. Should look like this:
    -noWorkshop -disableMods
  • Close the game's Properties window and launch the game.

If you're using mods, make sure you don't have any old broken or incompatible ones by checking your mods against this list:

Hmm, I wonder if it's your power supply struggling to keep up then. Cities has a tendency to push the CPU more than most things do, while also using the GPU and RAM. It wouldn't be the first time that it's the first indication of a failing power supply or one that's just a little too weak for the whole system.

Is it a prebuilt PC or one you have built/upgraded yourself?

the reason it takes so long is because I have 116 mods (Including ones like Real City, RTT, and other mods that slow down loading time), and 8600+ assets installed; it just took a bit longer to load this time and after I installed the FPS Booster mod it went from 10-20 min to load (note: according to LSM, the average time is around 15 min but it varies) down to 10ish min.

Usually 20 min is considered too long and I'd be concerned something wasn't right - but 8600+ assets explains it. If you ... Read more

The log shows the graphics card throwing some errors, but it should perfectly capable of running the game (it's significantly better than mine, which does well :P). Two things come to mind, first is we need to check the temperatures to see it isn't overheating. You can use a program like Speccy to check both before starting the game and while the game runs. Try adding the launch options -noWorkshop and -disableMods and start a new city to test. Does it still take a long time to load?

How To Set Launch Options

  • Enter the launch options you wish to apply (be sure to separate each code with a space) and click OK. Should look like this:

How far do you get? Do you see the launcher? It shows up after pressing Play in Steam. Do you get to the main menu of the game?

The best way for us to determine why the game crashes is to have a look at the output_log.txt (called player.log on Mac and Linux) to see what's causing it.

It looks like Steam is having some issues. There's not much to do than wait some hours and try again. I'd leave it at least 3-4 hours before trying again. Here's hoping it won't be long!

Ah damn. :/ You can always export the height map to easily redo the map. And you can select everything with Move It, unselect the broken airport and then export everything with Move It. Then use "Restore" to import it again with Move It. At least that will save you some time redoing the map.

Hmm, that sounds very strange! :S Might be worth trying with the mod Better Bulldoze. That's all I can think of.

Also make sure to disable all mods you don't absolutely need to creating the map. Most mods are made for the simulation and break in the editors. They might cause weird stuff like this, so I find it best to just avoid any that aren't doing something I really need while in the editor. Ofc that's no help for your current map. :/

Did you place the airport in the map editor?

Move It would be my go-to for this, does it not let you select the airport? Or will it not delete it?

For the game itself you would just install Steam on the other computer, then log in to your account and install the game.

If you want to move your savegame over, then you can use the Steam cloud or move the savefile manually. It's found in C:\Users\%username%\AppData\Local\Colossal Order\Cities_Skylines\Saves
