I hope to add to the Risk, Reward and Attention framework in a separate breakout thread once I get through this one!

You raise a lot of really good points, all I can say is that I have bookmarked them and plan to revisit in the new year.

Comment

Glad to hear it!

I assure you, nothing would make me happier than to have zero bots in EVE, right now, right this second. We do as much as we can with the resources we have, which incidentally have been increased substantially with investments, both in teams and tools, over the last year. It does not mean we can respond to every report, all the time. But we are doing our best.

Comment

Uncontrolled wealth generation is and was the reason for the scarcity era, and the intent was always to get to a point below healthy, and then add back resources through re-distribution. PLEX price is subject to supply and demand within the economy, so will always adjust to its current state. Someone must always generate the in-game wealth to purchase PLEX so CCP has no financial motive other than the drive for a healthier game for everyone.

I will try to get to the bottom of your issues with the Triglavian invasion content. The Ecosystem segment is responsible for the Triglavian/Edencom distribution and balance, ships and resources and our intent is to create a unique geographical flavor of resources within Pochven.

To you and a few other, the logic of how ice and some other anomalies are distributed, had a few surprises, we have applied a few fixes but are aware that it’s not 100% where it needs to be.

I think balance is very important as it is a key factor in making meaningful choices. A stale capital meta, instead of being an interesting challenge to solve, becomes a tedious chore, over time. You are on the right track with where our vision for ihubs is, to get there may mean multiple small steps towrads that goal.

Comment

Everything about it is complicated, who can cloak, how cloaking works, who can cloak and cyno, the different use cases for cloaking, the necessity of big game hunting, local.

It is a precarious balance, and will probably require a number of intermediary steps to get completely right. That’s why it hasn’t been tackled in a meaningful way for years but we are up for the challenge in 2021.

Interesting idea.

Comment

More or less spot on!

Comment

Usually I would ignore a reply like this, but it is for all intents and purposes, a complete misrepresentation of what we want to do in 2021.

Comment

That is a misunderstanding, we can confidently start adding more resources and ISK into the economy, by increasing rewards for the highest risk activities.

Comment

I think its quite clear that the majority of our effort has been on reigning in risk free resource generation in nullsec. EVE should be all about risk and reward, and highsec is a big part of the equation, it should have lower risk and appropriate reward.

Comment

Geographical scarcity and variance does drive conflict, and did in the past until it was monopolized. We are solving for both with limited quantity and geographically distributed critical resources.

Comment

Absolutely, as part of the re-distribution phase we are improving our content distribution tools, duration and quantity logic. Some of these systems are fairly archaic which resulted in some content breaking.

Hi everyone and merry Christmas. We will be keeping a close eye on this thread, and even create a couple of breakout threads for some more in depth analysis if necessary.

I am hoping we can have a good and productive conversation about the multiple topics brought up in the devblog and by the community.

OK, crunched through 600 replies. Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Key takeaways and clarifications

  • Player made Quantum Cores do not have the desired effect as they will be industrialized and built on site with no added logistics risk. Nullsec alliances will now have to distribute Quantum Cores across space from the NPC station where they bought them. A new risk for them.

  • More destruction of Citadels will mean more demand for industrialists

  • The Quantum Cores are bought and sold at the “same” price, so as to not create an arbitrage. If you find a Quantum Core floting in space, its guaranteed ISK, not subject to market prices. Like blue loot.

  • We made changes to Wardecs fairly recently, and if Highsec wardeccing becomes oppressive, based on data, not anecdotes, we would certainly want to act

  • That said, any corporation that owns a structure today can be wardeced because we don’t want struct...

One of the specific stated goals was to align high reward PVE and its relative risk with other activities in EVE.

In many such cases, the challenge has been solved, and we think that its time to issue a new challenge to players doing those activities.

We have faith in you!.
