Private Leagues for Path of Exile: The Forbidden Sanctum are now available!

Private Leagues for Path of Exile: The Forbidden Sanctum expansion launch are now available! Those of you who are planning to play in a Private Sanctum League at launch are now able to create them beforehand. Click here to set up your Private League (don't forget to double check the start time of your league upon creating)! Ruthless will also be available as an option for your private leagues. Please note that you won't be able to participate in these events until they officially launch on December 9th (PST).

In the upcoming Sanctum League, you'll be able to earn pieces of the exclusive Victorious Armour Set by completing 40 new challenges. At 4, 6, 8 and 10 challenges, you'll receive the Victorious Boots, Gloves, Helmet and Body Armour respectively. Additional tiers of this armour set are unlocked as you complete more challenges in the Sanctum League. Completing challenges also grants you pieces of the Sanctum Totem Pole Hideout decoration!



You'll be able to check out the full list of challenges you need to complete for these rewards when Path of Exile: The Forbidden Sanctum launches for PC and Mac on December 9th PST and for console on December 14th PST.

Our last three manifestos covered Jewels and Ailment Mitigation, the replacement of Archnemesis modifiers and Eldritch Altars. In today's final 3.20 manifesto, we're discussing changes to Curses (specifically, Hexes) and our goal of making their effectiveness against different rarities of monsters more balanced.

TLDR:

  • Hidden monster penalties against curses have been removed.

  • Hexes are now stronger against unique monsters and at least twice as strong against pinnacle bosses, but are weaker against regular monsters.

  • The Doom mechanic has been removed, to simplify the Hex system. Anything related to Doom has been reworked so that it's comparable to before.

In the Forbidden Sanctum expansion, we're making a number of changes to Eldritch Altars, specifically to their rewards, the monster packs they spawn and the incentives for rushing to map bosses before completing the rest of the map. In addition, we are adding a chance for Maven-witnessed Map Bosses to drop an Awakened Gem (inclusive of the Awakened Gems that are typically exclusive to Maven herself). The overarching aim of these changes is to try to reach a point where the choice between running Maven-witnessed Maps or Eldritch Influence Maps is closer in value while still retaining the gameplay feeling you've come to expect from Eldritch Altars.

  • Altars no longer offer some reward types like gems, influenced items, unique items or maps.

Can you hear it, Exile? Madness approaches in the Delirium Everywhere event, where a dense fog has taken over almost every zone!

The fog ranges randomly from 10% to 100% Delirium with the minimum and maximum level of Delirium scaling with the level of the zone. This way, some lower level encounters won't be impossibly difficult and higher level encounters won't be incredibly easy. This has all the usual effects — monsters getting buffed, new monsters spawning, reward bars filling with kills, and Simulacrum splinters dropping. To avoid spam-refreshing areas being the best strategy, each area always has the same Delirium percentage, and Delirium reward types are randomised each time they drop.

Path of Exile 3.20 Expansion Livestream
The details of our fourth expansion of this year will be revealed at 11AM December 1st (PST) at twitch.tv/pathofexile!

In our upcoming 3.20 expansion, Archnemesis will be replaced with a system that is more similar to the way monster mods worked in the past.

The issues that players often had with Archnemesis were:

  • The keyworded mod names were not fully descriptive of what they did

  • The mods often had multiple effects bundled which made them harder to understand

  • Due to how many effects were included in a single mod, it made too many encounters too complex

  • The way Archnemesis rewards were set up meant that many players felt like they couldn't just kill a monster, they had to consider if they wanted to bring a magic find character in to maximise rewards
