I have since gotten a new hard drive for my computer, and I installed Stardew Valley on it. I do have my old hard drive saved onto my new one. I used to have the CJB cheats installed on my old drive. I have redownloaded the newest updated game through Steam onto this new hard drive, and every time I try to play the game, it opens an untouchable white window for a few seconds, and then it closes. During this time, Steam shows that the game is running. A second after the window closes, Steam shows the game is not being played anymore. I have tried all of the listed fixes, such as uninstalling and reinstalling, clearing %appdata%/stardewvalley, plugging in headphones, etc. The game does create a crash report, but I do not have any applications on my computer that can open a .wer fil...

Hello, the stardew valley error logs (if any exist) are located in %appdata%/StardewValley/ErrorLogs and are just in .txt format. If you find one there please let me know what it says. Otherwise, please check out this link: https://www.stardewvalley.net/stardew-valley-troubleshooting-guide/ there are a few suggestions to try if the game is not launching. Let me know if any of that helps!

Hi everyone,

A new patch is now available (1.4.2) to fix some more bugs in the recent content update:

(Some spoilers below)

Bug Fixes:

– Fixed an issue where the Crane Game would crash on load on Mac builds.
– Fixed workbenches not pulling items from chests that are on rugs.
– Fixed an issue where Robin would stay in bed if she was upgrading certain buildings on game load.
– Reverted placement rules introduced in 1.4.1 which prevented players for creating flooring or torches on their Spouse’s porch tiles. Instead, Spouses will now ignore flooring and will “pop off” any torches that are placed in those tiles when they move there in the morning.
– Fixed a bug where buying a magic rock candy, exiting to title, and then re-loading the game would cause the candy to not re-appear in the shop.
– Fixed a crash when mashing the dialogue advance buttons while transitioning between maps during an event.
– Fixed another ...

If you are playing with controller and mash the A & or B button during the fade out while you enter the CC, it will crash. A fix is in the works, but in the meantime, if you don't press any buttons on the controller during the transition, you should be able to get past it

Disabled all mods, still can't put a path on that square. This is in a single-player game.

Thanks for the report, this will be fixed

Sorry about that, this is a verified issue on Mac right now. There is a fix for this and few other issues in the works now

Yup, saw the heart event and everything, but didn't have any mail from her the next day.

The only way to be sure that there is no lingering effect from mods is to completely uninstall all of them, and do a total re-install of Stardew Valley. If it's still happening after that, then I think the best way to figure this out would be for you to send me your save file. If you'd like to, please send me a DM

I'll add more as I find them.

The return scepter and tool thing is probably a lingering result of a bug that was (suppsoed to be ) fixed in 1.4.1. If the tool thing continues happening, please let me know!

Hi everyone,

A bug-fix patch (version 1.4.1) is now available for Stardew Valley, which fixes some of the bugs found since the launch of 1.4. Here are some of the more important fixes:
  • MULTIPLAYER: Fixed an issue where farmhand's separate wallets would be reset to 500g if the host was playing on Mac or Linux
  • Fixed problem harvesting crops with the golden scythe.
  • Added a new Gamepad Mode selection to the options menu. The default setting ("Auto") will automatically switch between keyboard and mouse controls depending on the last used input (this should be fine for most players). "Force on" forces the game to use gamepad logic, similar to earlier versions of Stardew Valley. "Force off" disables the gamepad and can be used if you only play the game using a keyboard and mouse.
  • Fixed bug where you could enter the sewer on ...

Hi everyone,

A new patch is out for PC platforms that fixes some bugs found since the launch of 1.4. A big “Thank you!” to everyone who posted bug reports… I hope this patch will resolve any issues you’ve been experiencing.

A full (and spoilery) changelog for the patch is listed below:

Stardew Valley 1.4.1 Bug-Fix Patch

Bug Fixes:

  •  Fixed an issue where farmhand’s separate wallets would be reset to 500g if the host was playing on Mac or Linux
  •  Fixed the incorrect ordering of NPC gift tastes so now tastes should remain as they were in 1.3.
  •  Trash bear no longer appears on festival days, preventing a potential crash.
  •  Fixed an issue where reclaiming the Insect Head, Neptune’s Glaive, Forest Sword, or Carving Knife from Marlon would cause Clint to appear to be upgrading that weapon. This could cause you to lose a tool if you were already upgrading a tool when this happened.
  •  Fixed problem harvestin...

ConcernedApe on Steam Forums - Thread - Direct
there is a patch coming out later today that will have an option to "force gamepad mode on" which will prevent the game from trying to switch between gamepad mode and keyboard mode intelligently. I'm hoping that will fix the problem many people are describing

I have used mods before. But since then I have completely removed all files and reinstalled, so no mods currently installed.

I did verify files when I first encountered the crash and steam said all files were fine.

This crash doesn't happen for me, but I'd like to figure out what's going on. Could you send me your save file? If you can, It's located in %appdata%/StardewValley/Saves ...just zip the whole folder with your character's name on it. Send me a DM with either a link to the zip or we can figure out an alternate way to get the file over to me

When you pass out in the mine and have the choice to buy back your lost items, the letter arrives in the mail with an empty box. The item is not there. No way to buy it back at Marlons. The item missing is the Obsidian Sword. Playing on steam pc, four corners farm, host is on mac.

This could potentially be due to an issue if the host is playing on mac or linux. There will be a patch out later today that fixes a major problem with that, and it might fix that issue as well. Please let me know if it continues after today's patch, though.

Okie dokie, sooo... I'm trying to change my character name in the appdata for my save file post-1.4 update. Booting the game up shows two save files (sometimes both with the new name, sometimes one with the old and one with the new). Clicking on the top file (the new name in both of the above situations) loops back to the title screen. Clicking on the second file (sometimes the new name, sometimes the old) opens the game, but always has the old name in all the usual places you would find the name. No crashing occurs. Am I messing something up here? I feel like I'm following all the steps for a successful name change, but it's just not sticking!

There are quirks to changing your character name that you need to know if you're going to attempt an edit. Couple of things to note... There are two files the game uses, the actual save file, which looks like _, and then a file called SaveGameInfo. The load game menu only uses SaveGameInfo to populate its list. The name that shows up in the load game menu isn't directly connected to the name that will actually appear when you enter the game. If you want to change your name in your save file, I think the first thing to try is to open the actual save file, find & replace all instances of the old name with the new. Save, then make sure to change the name of the file itself, as well as the encompassing folder to all match the new name. Changing the name found in SaveGameInfo is optional, but doing so will make it easier to identify your work in the load game menu.

I have tested several times and am able to consistently reproduce it.

All I have to do to reproduce is to walk into town from my farm anytime after 8 am while only using a controller and not touching the keyboard. The game will show the cut scene up until my player and Lewis walk into the community center where the game will crash on the black screen when we walk in together.

Entering the town from any other entrance (from robin shop or marnie's farm) does not trigger the cut scene at and when leaving and entering from your farm entrance the cut scene will trigger and still crash if keyboard is not touched.

This can easily be worked around by using a keyboard to enter the cut scene and progress through it then continue with controller after the scene has finished

thanks for the report. Do you, or have you ever used mods? If not, please try verifying the integrity of your game files (in steam... right click game > properties > Local Files > verify integrity of game files)
