Gosh, has it been 10 years? Mod Marcos has this in the bag and will look great in elf ears

Good morning Dave! I swear I always see your comments where I don't expect them haha.
Did you see the April Fools thing where they introduced a Benchsitting skill? 😂
Good morning Sakirth! I did! I love that the April Fool tradition continues at RS. Been some classics.
Mod Timbo (benches!) is still there, uprooting trees. I believe Jonathan H is still doing the good work too
Why did you leave? You obviously still care about RuneScape and the community, you're still here in the subreddit paying attention. So what's the deal?
It’s a really boring answer: Jagex was my first proper job and I had been there for sixteen years. Just felt the tug of trying out different things. But I still skulk about in the subreddit, wondering how things are going and wishing RuneScape the best.
We miss you man :(
There’s a whole lot of missing RuneScape on my part too.
who gives a shit what Osborne's title was, he had a good relationship with the community so what the fellow is saying is the way he left felt rather abrupt and sad considering the special relationship he had with the players
That was a mistake on my part, in hindsight. I didn’t want to worry players about what my leaving meant for RuneScape, and I wanted to keep the focus on the announcements we had at the time. That and - contrary to what my bazillion video appearances might make you think - I’m not wholly comfortable being centre of attention! But people found out about me leaving from LinkedIn anyway, so I scuppered all those plans.
The context of these expressions are when Osborne announced a new skill is coming ahead of runefest to take the heat off of MTX backlash
Haven’t quite forgiven myself for that one. Love you Shauny!
Priff is the best update in rs history. Mod Elfborn was entertaining too
♥️
Wait Hate's that good? I've been lollygagging on running quests after Aftermath & Daughter of Chaos (essentially haven't done anything released after Sliske's Endgame except for the Elder Godwars series). I should definitely bump up Menaphos rep on my priorities list.
Fantastic use of lollygagging! Not used enough
Yes. Yak track tomorrow.
I...
I don't think that's how footwear works.
Or what if... am I doing shoes wrong?
Maybe I should stop wearing shoes altogether.
That'd be a feat.
Our servers will be clogged with them
Superb graphic! Thanks for collating this. Dead proud of the team for pulling 2021 round.
Looking at the other columns is a nostalgia trip. Love it.
Happy New Year to you!
The problem with hero items is they are so rare and hard to come by that most simply can't be excited for them. They are kinda like the original party hats, only something for the elite to enjoy and to hell with the rest of the community.
Better off spending that time fixing bugs and updating content like Yanille and Karamja, something the entire community can actually enjoy!
My view is that a game like RuneScape should generate pogchamp moments where somebody gets something that is borderline unique. Without those moments, we’d all have the same gear and bank, and that feels like a shame. These should be near negligible in cost to make, and we should still design hard-to-get stuff that isn’t based on RNG, but these things are still important.
I'm fairly sure Mr Osborne misspoke on livestream today, and either any planned EGWD-related hero item was cancelled, or he was thinking of Pernix's quiver, Sana's fyrtorch, or Tagga's corehammer, which are not hero items.
/u/jagexosborne you said today there was a hero item released with Elder GWD which is untrue, or there's something we don't know about. Care to clear up this confusion?
As far as I know, the last hero item was added with Archaeology, almost 2 years ago now.
I was thinking of the quiver. Apologies, I misspoke. But hero items are still very much a thing. The team loves making them and coming up with them.
Knew we should have put in a re-roll button
This is a little bit special
Damn you. I was putting my kid to bed, looked at this, snorted, and now I’m trying to explain it to a sleepy two year old. Worth it.
raids
Good joke.
Yeah, I know. It’s always on the list of possibles each year, so it’s not been super-shelved.
A tiny bit more clarity on this. We call them ‘Combat’ updates rather than bosses, so that encompasses dungeons, Slayer, raids, EDs, PvP, quality of life, as well as bosses. So those ‘slots’ in a year dedicated to combat will not necessarily all be out-and-out bosses.
I’d also say that, being a God Wars year, we’ve spent slightly more on each combat update than we might in the average year. Only slightly. I think we would push up Skilling more in the average year.
But yeah, the number of combat updates in 2021 is indicative, and it’s still a bigger focus than it was before.
