With this week’s update to the Shadowlands Beta, we’re kicking off a test of some special events for Torghast, and we have them set on a daily rotation. The first Anima Hoard you discover on a run will have unique choices that help define the rest of your run.

The events include:

• Beasts of Prodigum: Your first Maw power chest allows you to gain control of a powerful Maw beast that fights alongside you during your run. Subsequent Maw powers you receive in this run have a chance to modify the beast and grant it special abilities.
• Chorus of Dead Souls: Your first Maw power chest allows you to assume the form of a Deadsoul Chorus, granting you special abilities. While in this form, your party members can right-click you to join your form and cast on the move. Subsequent Maw powers enhance your Deadsoul Chorus form in a variety of ways.
• Unbridled Darkness: Your first Maw power chest can grant you ...

I’ve added two spells to the OP:

Druid: Innervate
Monk: Mana Tea

They no longer invoke a GCD in the latest build of the Shadowlands Beta.

We’ve continued to work from feedback that the Unholy opener can take too long to get going. Even with attempts to help alleviate this issue over the last few weeks, it’s still not where we would like it to be.

Unholy has quite a few iconic abilities and they aren’t easily removed. Thus, our goal with this week’s latest build is to reduce the number of cooldowns in the opener, help out Rune economy, and give access to a baseline AoE Runic Spender.

Unholy

• Summon Gargoyle is moved back as a level 50 talent.
• Unholy Pact moved to the level 45 talent tier.
• Epidemic is baseline.
• Dark Transformation has been removed, and its functionality has been added to Apocalypse.
  • Developers’ notes: Legendaries and Conduits that interact with your ghoul while they have Dark Transformation still function as they did prior to this change.
• Death Coil has updated to reduce the cooldown of Apocalyps...

During a scheduled maintenance period planned for 3:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. AEST on September 11, the following realm connections will be made:

• Gundrak and Jubei’Thos will be connected to Dreadmaul, Frostmourne, and Thaurissan.

During a scheduled maintenance period planned for 7:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. PDT on September 10, the following realm connections will be made:

• Frostmane, Ner’zhul, and Tortheldrin will be connected to Cairne, Cenarius, Korgath, and Perenolde.
• Borean Tundra and Shadowsong will be connected to Drak’thul, Mok’Nathal, Silvermoon, and Skywall.
• Auchindoun, Cho’gall, and Laughing Skull will be connected to Elune and Gilneas.
• Burning Blade, Lightning’s Blade, and Onyxia will be connected to Garona, Icecrown, and Malygos.
• Eredar, Gorefiend, Spinebreaker, and Wildhammer will be connected to Hellscream and Zangarmarsh.

During a scheduled maintenance period planned for 3:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. AEST on September 11, the following realm connections will be made:

• Gundrak and Jubei’Thos will be connected to Dreadmaul, Frostmourne, and Thaurissan.

We’ve been working on a fix for this, but we don’t expect to do it via hotfix.

Until the next build comes out, testers will have to work around this issue by going to Oribos and choosing Venthyr.

Observant players on realms that are currently in the resource-gathering stage of the War Effort noticed a bug, and are correct. The automatic turn-ins are just now getting started on some realms, as the bugfix is now causing the desired effect.

Due to underlying circumstances that are unique to the AQ events and the way they’re activated, each realm is on a different schedule for ending their 30 day wait before automatic turn-ins will begin. Each realm will begin automatic turn-ins at a different time over the next couple of days (and some may have already begun by the time you’re reading this).

Thereafter, you’ll see small amounts of items arriving automatically every few minutes. The different kinds of items arrive on different cadences.

I can confirm that issues have delayed the Eredar/Gorefiend/Spinebreaker/Wildhammer to Hellscream/Zangarmarsh connection.

We intend to complete that connection during another maintenance window, as soon as possible. We’ll post about it here once we have it scheduled.

Tomorrow, Friday September 4, at 8:00 a.m. PDT / 11:00 a.m. EDT, we’re going to perform a stress test on the Pre-patch PTR.

Please make sure you select “Public Test Realm” in the Battle.net App, and log in at that time, and join Blizzard employees in Stormwind and Orgrimmar as we test the updates to the event that were made in this latest build.

With today’s Shadowlands Beta update, PvP trinkets are now available from Purveyor Zo’kuul, located in The Enclave in Oribos.

The Test Resource Distributor will now also grant Honor currency, and can be found in the Ring of Fates.

Additionally, all instanced PvP maps now have a scaling aura active to simulate end-game item level.

Hunters’ Coordinated Assault and Trueshot, as well as Monks’ Storm, Earth, and Fire have been added to the list of those abilities that are removed from the GCD.

These have now been hotfixed into the Beta.

In the next update to the Shadowlands Beta and PTR, we’ve taken a number of spells categorized as “burst cooldowns” off the global cooldown (GCD). Here are some more details on how we’ve come to this decision, as well as our intentions about this category of abilities.

By “burst cooldowns,” we mean spells like Avenging Wrath or Arcane Power whose primary purpose is to increase your damage or healing output every two to three minutes. The proper use of these major abilities can turn the tide of battle in your favor, and while they’re all mechanically powerful, our goal is that choosing to use them should also feel satisfying and epic. We look to abilities like Metamorphosis, Stormkeeper, and Void Eruption as successful examples of this, where animations, visual effects, and numerical payoff align to create a satisfying keypress that amply justifies incurring a global cooldown and creates a high point in the flow of combat.
