Hello Lumia Island survivors!
Welcome to the 2nd Update for changes to Lumia Island.

Like we mentioned in the 1st Update, today’s Dev Journal will focus on the areas and their connected movement.

The design of maps and terrain is often referred to as “level design.” When we were first making Lumia Island, we referenced a lot of different level design from various games in the first-person shooter (FPS) genre. This is due to the abundance of FPS-type games in the Battle Royale genre at that time, which shared common features like buildings, roads, and obstacles plastered on modern backgrounds. Additionally, our limited experience in designing levels for three-quarter view games was also a factor.

Hello Lumia Island survivors!
Today’s Dev Journal will focus on changes to a few different characters.

Over the years, we’ve received a ton of feedback on the structure of character skills. That feedback can be roughly broken down into the following points:

  1. Kits that are not interactive from the enemy's perspective
  2. Excessive utility
  3. Skills that are too simple or underutilized
  4. Low accessibility due to high difficulty
  5. The desire for the addition of more exciting gimmicks

Solving all of these problems at the same time is extremely difficult. When it comes to characters, we believe the best course of action is to make them fun with as little changes as possible. Today’s Dev Journal will cover the changes to Wild Animals on Lumia Island.

Hunting Wild Animals is one of the most utilized parts of playing Eternal Return.

Although it’s not as exciting or intense as battling with other test subjects, we wanted to beef it up to make it even better as players spend a lot more time hunting compared to PvP.

(Note: All example images are still in development and are subject to change.)

We’ve added a small pattern for Wild Animals, which will make them slightly more rhythmical.

Let’s start with Bats. Bats are a way for the organizers of the experiment to keep an eye on all test subjects. This is why you’re able to get cameras when you slay them.

Now, as soon as you slay a bat, an Eye of the Beholder will be installed where its carcus is. Eye of the Beholder is a special camera that cannot be destroyed by attacks but that disappears ... Read more

Hello Lumia Island survivors!
Today’s Dev Journal will cover a new addition to Lumia Island: campfires! As the name suggests, campfires are where you can cook up plenty of special dishes.



You can cook any type of food by bringing the correct ingredients to the campfire. Before, the method of cooking and crafting was done by combining two ingredients. However, you can bring only one ingredient to the campfire and roast it up!

All Normal (White) ingredients can be brought to a campfire and roasted to delicious perfection.
For example, if you cook basic Bread over a campfire, it becomes a new item, Breakfast Toast.

Greetings Lumia Island survivors.

The focus of our first Dev Journal will be on the transformation of Lumia Island. Other games may feature a few different maps which keeps things fresh and fun. However, Eternal Return only has one map, and while the map and terrain are very important elements, they haven't been changed very much since we first released the game almost 2 1/2 years ago. During that time, we improved the background art a bit and added some objectives, but that was it. Now we've really focused on doing large-scale changes for official launch in July.

There are quite a few areas on Lumia where you move for a while without any action. There are many buildings currently on the island that you cannot enter, and by going around these areas, your walking distance becomes even further, which means some game variables will occur even less. Hello Lumia Island survivors!

As we grow closer to Official Launch, we will be ending the purchase of EP Tokens and deactivating all ER PASS. Please read the following information carefully:

1. End of EP Token Purchases - Purchases for 1,000 EP Tokens, 200 EP Tokens, and Random EP Token Boxes will end on Wednesday, June 21st after maintenance (PT).

2. ER PASS Deactivation - ER PASS for Snow Blossom, Ghostly Presence, Beachside Splash, Neon Aftershock, and Slumber Party were kept open for the duration of Early Access. However, once Early Access ends, we will be deactivating all ER PASS and they can no longer be used.
- A new ER PASS will be available after Eternal Return 1.0 Official Launch on Wednesday, August 2nd after maintenance (PT).
