Once I'm back next week, I'll take a look. Also, if you experience this, I'd love to see the save file. I don't really encounter this issue in my play sessions, so I feel like you're doing something I'm not. Would love to take a look at your save files to help address this specific problem.

Thanks!

Still here. Just on vacation with my family. Will be back working on the game next week.

Hey friends!

1.0.30.0 is up. I focused some more on idle settler issues and various annoying bugs. The snow not melting was a big one and should be all good now.

Settlers should again bring items to jobs even though the settler doesn't do the job as their profession. You can disable this functionality by disabling hauling for an entity. They default with this enabled. And, I also fixed a bug related to this which kept entities from doing their jobs if they didn't have hauling enabled. So, hopefully, that all works as expected now.

I'm getting lots of great feedback from the community. I'll continue to respond to that as best I can as well as expand upon the tutorial a lot more. Thanks for being patient and learning the game the annoying hard way for now.

Thanks for the feedback AZ!

The tutorial is a work in progress and is only 20% complete. So, that's why it ends at a certain point. I'm going to continue expanding it. Your feedback is appreciated.

I was also thinking of adding some in game legend or manual. That would be a great addition.

As for Das' comment, I think a lot of people believe I intentionally left out a tutorial or assume players will just get the game. And, that's not the case. It simply came down to running out of time. As a solo dev funding your own game, you do the best with the time you have and hope things work out. Sometimes you just can't make it work. And that's ok. I'll keep working on it and hopefully you get to play it when it has a better tutorial and the experience has improved.

Anyway, thank you for taking the time to write these notes on the tutorial.

Eating/drinking are priority 4 by default and *should* interrupt jobs. I'd love to take a look at the save file to see what's up. Also, which version are you on? 1.0.29.0?

Thanks

Sorry guys! Got swamped with 1.0 and post-launch stuff. If I don't respond, it's only because I'm one dude and I'm getting messages from like 500 people on five different social networks while also trying continue fixing issues with the game and address any bugs people raise. I'm genuinely trying to please everyone and am not trying to spite you guys. I am doing my best. I still want to add achievements, clouds saves, and all that stuff, but it's a lower priority than game breaking bugs and the like. Please be patient.

I'm looking into this one. Should have it fixed soon. Thanks for reporting.

1.0.29.0 is up! It fixes some pretty annoying idle bugs and a buuunch of annoying behaviours that bog down job efficiency.

# 1.0.29.0 Patch Notes

Bug Fixes

- [x] Fixed an issue where entities wouldn't start a job.
- [x] Fixed an issue where entities would collect resource from across the map instead of using ones nearby.
- [x] Fixed an issue where entities would stop doing a job if a high priority job was created which they could carry items to. This would result in haulers stopping in the middle of a stock room job to bring items to a high priority auto-job. i.e., bringing brick to a high priority brick job they can't build.
- [x] Fixed an issue where unclaimed items were set to claimed on game re-load.

Tuning/Content/Polish/Misc

- [x] Invert scroll wheel now only inverts the list scroll direction.
- [x] Settlers will try and prioritize resources based on closest to job OR entity. Used to be just to entity. This should... Read more

Would you mind trying the beta (or wait a bit, should be out to stable soon)? There's a patch (1.0.29.0) that specifically focuses on idle settlers in there. Would love to see if that resolves your issue, and, if not, I can try to figure out what's going on from there.

You need containers for water. Wood buckets or glass bottles should do the trick. You can also set up the wellhouse to automatically fill containers. You can make wood buckets and glass bottles in the workshop. You can also harvest Sogweed Bulbs from the bodies of water (if they grow in your biome) and use those as containers.

Lastly, make sure you are on version 1.0.28.2 as there was an auto-job bug in 1.0.28.1 which could be keeping your farmers from creating the water plant job.

I've uploaded 1.0.28.2 with a fix. It should resolve this issue. You might need to restart Steam to get it to update. So sorry about this bug.

Hmmm, that sounds like a bug. What room are you trying to create for them which they won't join?

I want to make sure the modding support is up and running before enabling workshops. Hoping to start on that soonish.

Edit: I've uploaded 1.0.28.2 which fixes a serious auto-job bug for rooms. Should be working again. Sorry about that.

Hey everyone,

I've just uploaded some more fixes and small changes to help address issues folks have raised. The biggest issue being that players could not integrate captured entities into their settlement, but some other fixes for quite annoying bugs in there too. Plus some tuning to bandit raids to make them less intense.

As always, thanks for providing bug reports and feedback!

Yea, none of that is great. I'll see if I can improve things. Right now the non-sapient entities are automatically set to the player faction to keep them from need to 'integrate as citizens', but I see the issue with not being able to close paths and such. I'll also focus on fixing up some behavior issues with the animal enclosures.

I've just uploaded a patch (1.0.28.1) which fixes an issue where entities weren't sleeping at the same time if they shared a house.

I'll look into the second issue you raise. They definitely should be fighting for you. It sounds like they might have the fight skill disabled or something. Though, it should always be active by default. In the morning I'll take a look, but you might be able to solve the issue temporarily by enabling that skill if it is indeed disabled.

Sorry, it's a bug. I'm working on it right now and will have a patch out very soon.
Post
Hey everyone!

Happy to see so many new faces in the community. I'm working away furiously on the issues that were brought to my attention this weekend. In this patch I address a particularly nasty game freeze that happened after killing bandits. You shouldn't encounter that issue any more. As well, there are a few more serious bugs I'm working on for the next patch coming very, very soon.

And, of course, I've heard loud and clear that a tutorial needs to be added. That is one of my top priorities and I've added the first section to this patch. It's definitely not the final tutorial (maybe like 10%), but it's what I was able to get accomplished in between the chaos that was this weekend. Thank you so much for patiently waiting on that!

Here are the patch notes:
