We will be updating the following list regularly to outline the status of certain issues that are currently pressing for our community. Please note that this list is not exhaustive, and should only be used as a reference to give a general idea of where our focus currently is.

GAMEPLAY TOPICS - ACTIVELY UNDER INVESTIGATION
Smoke Canister Gas Propagation
The propagation of the gas from Smoke’s Remote Gas Grenades was often problematic, appearing on the other side of undamaged walls, floors, or ceilings. We’ve reworked the propagation system for the gas itself, meaning the toxic gas will no longer travel through unbroken, or unopen boundaries, though it will spread through walls, floors, or ceilings where gaps have been created. We also changed the sound that the Remote Gas Grenades make upon det... Read more

In Y6S1 we’ve teamed up with Prime Gaming and launched our Community Artist Bundle Program by releasing the very first community-designed operator bundle: The SAU_SIEGE Bundle for Caveira[rainbow6.com].

With this program, we want to celebrate our amazingly creative and dedicated community artists and give them a chance to be represented in-game. Each selected artist gets to create a full set for an operator of their choice and these bundles will drop over the course of Year 6 and beyond.

We’re excited to continue our partnership with Prime Gaming in Y6S2 North Star to bring you the next edition of our Community Artist Bundle Program. As we announced during the Ubiso... Read more

We announced it at the beginning of the year, and finally our very first ever Operator rework is here. Russian Defender Tachanka has proven to be a well-liked character in the community, but he came with a set of flaws we wanted to address and repair.

That’s why he has traded his beloved turret to create an all-new way of moving. We have given our trusty Operator a fresh spin through a new gadget, a new primary weapon as well as a new ability in a conscious effort to transform a popular personality into a force to be reckoned with. Don’t worry, Tachanka has kept his spirit, he just got brand-new toys to play with!

The Y5S3.1 update contains primarily a backlog of bug fixes from the TS that did not make it in time for the season update.

UPDATES
VOTE-TO-KICK REMOVAL
In this update we will be removing the vote-to-kick feature from Quick Match (vote-to-kick was previously only available in Quick Match.)

We've been monitoring the use of vote-to-kick for the last seasons and have confirmed that it is indeed a highly abused feature used as a disruption tool and that it is considered by most to be a pain point in this playlist. Considering that it brings more tension to Quick Match, we decided to turn it off.

BUG FIXES
GAMEPLAY
FIXED - Mismatched SFX when picking up a hard breach charge gadget.
FIXED - Operator shields will flip in first person POV after swapping out the shield and performing a melee attack.

UPDATES
PING 2.0
We’re currently evaluating the feedback that we’ve received on Ping 2.0 over the course of the Test Server. So far, we've observed that the benefits of the new ping system are more heavily weighted towards more casual players, but we also understand the potential drawbacks raised by high-tier players about the new ping system. With this in mind, we would like to spend some more time gathering data and feedback on the live servers. We'll continue closely monitoring the impact of Ping 2.0 while it's on live while we we take a closer look at our options to try and will do our best to incorporate feedback to make the new Ping 2.0 an enjoyable experience and useful tool for players ... MATCHMAKING In the past, we have released a post touching on how the MMR system works. We are updating it to properly reflect the current system in Rainbow Six Siege.

HOW DOES IT WORK ?
SKILL
Your skill represents your ability to win a game. Comparing two teams' skill gives you the probability that one team will win against the other. The higher the difference, the more likely a given team is going to win. When two teams with the same skill levels are matched up with each other, they both have an equal shot at winning. The algorithm used in Rainbow Six Siege assigns two values to each player: an estimation of their skill (μ) and the uncertainty of this estimation (σ). The players’ skills are distributed along a Bell curve, centered around 25 (High Silver – Low Gold).

UNCERTAINTY
The estimation of your skill is... Read more

The Y5S2.2 update will soon deploy to PC with the updated Player Reporting Panel. For Console, the 2.2 patch will be bundled alongside the 2.3 release.

UPDATES PLAYER REPORTING PANEL The Reporting Panel is getting an upgrade! Building upon the last addition of more reporting categories to improve the granularity of in-game reports, we've added a new player-reporting panel. This new panel will provide you with more information on each type of reporting category so you can make an informed decision about which report type best fits the situation. More accurate reports from you and other players, means we can make sure we're handing out the appropriate sanctions to players that deserve it.

HACKING, CHEATING, LOBBY FREEZING UPDATE To follow up on our last Top Issues update below in April, we would like to give you all a status update on the hacking, cheating, and lobby-freezing issues. We'll go over some of the steps we have taken where we have found success, where we are still working to make improvements, as well as emphasize our continued focus on cheating and hacking as priority issues.

LOBBY FREEZING Lobby-Freezing: Lobby-freezing occurs while in menu or while loading into a round, and no connectivity icons will appear.

Update: After our April Top Issues blog, we made an update to the game that would allow us to gather more data to accurately track and identify lobby-freezers. We were able to successfully use that data to implement an auto-kick feature for individuals identified as holdi... Read more

At the beginning of Y5 we announced an upcoming new Match Replay feature for Rainbow Six Siege.

While originally scheduled to go live in the first half of the year, circumstances have forced us to push back the schedule on Match Replay. Match replay is a feature that requires a great deal of technical development, but we hope to deliver the best experience to our players when it is ready to go live. Despite the delay, we’d like to share an early look at Match Replay with you all.

Match Replay is a system that automatically records your last 10 played games. With it, you’ll be able to re-watch and fully spectate your recorded games from both first-person and top-down points of view, from an... Read more
